Santa Barbara hotels’ de-stressing deals: massages, wine

Santa Barbara Harbor

Santa Barbara and surrounds are on sale. At least that’s what it seems with a look at the tourism bureau’s Hot Deals section. The well-organized page includes deals and unique, tempting packages offered by hotels, motels, B&Bs and even a dude ranch.

Following are a few that seemed particularly tempting to me (note that I seem to be drawn right now, for some reason, to the packages that include massages and/or wine):

Circle Bar B Guest Ranch and Stables: For a getaway that’s therapeutic for body and mind, consider this Rx from a dude ranch in Goleta. The “Medicinal Country ‘Cure All’ ” package features the following, for rates starting at $771 total for two nights, and two guests, in a cottage, cabin or room: two 60-minute in-room massages; two 90-minute horseback rides; three meals per night’s stay; and a bottle of Champagne upon arrival. For stays between now and May 31.

Old Yacht Club Inn: This Santa Barbara B&B is offering a “Stress Free Package” for $499 (pre-tax). For this, you get two nights in a suite or cottage with full breakfast, a wine-and-cheese social, a gourmet gift basket and two in-room massages. The special is valid for stays Sunday through Thursday, now through May 31.

Hadsten House: The “Get Sideways, Again” package at this Solvang venue offers a tailor-made wine-country experience. For $427 for two people (pre-tax), its midweek deal (available Monday through Thursday) includes a two-night stay in a deluxe room with king bed; daily breakfast buffet; dinner for two at the hotel’s restaurant; dinner for two at the Hitching Post II restaurant (featured in the film “Sideways”); and a private wine tasting and winery tour with Hartley-Ostini Hitching Post Winery owner Frank Ostini. This offer is valid now through April 30.

Harbor View Inn: At this beachfront resort in Santa Barbara, book your three-night summer getaway (stays from May 30 to Aug. 31, 2009) by April 15 and save 30%.

Note: Besides deals on accommodations, the Hot Deals section offers loads of discounts for museums, tour companies, restaurants and more.

  1. FeelTheMagicTravel.com Says:

You talk about some great de-stressing deals with massages and wines but you need to sell the town itself, which is a wonderful place to visit. From the mission to the beach, the easy rhythm of this coastal jewel lulls you into vacation mode.

Resting between the green Santa Ynez Mountains and the blue Pacific Ocean, Santa Barbara exudes a happy, laid-back vibe notorious for putting workaholics out of commission. Forget the clock and stroll down State Street, Santa Barbara’s vibrant main drag lined with potted flowers, antique shops, restaurants and galleries.

Turn off your cell phone and head into the mountains for a visit to Santa Barbara’s Old Mission, where the Spanish heritage of this beach community is remembered in detail. Or explore five miles of paths through Santa Barbara’s Botanical Garden overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Channel Islands. Feel the breeze off the ocean as you browse the stalls of fruits and flowers at The Farmer’s Market, then ease into your starry evening with some shrimp cocktail and an ice-cold beer by the water.

I’m from Washington, DC, and I see that right now I can get two airline fares and two nights lodging in Santa Barbara for April 25-27 beginning at $396 per person, and this includes flight, hotel, taxes and fees.
