When the Ivy Hotel opened in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter in 2007, rooms were being sold at $450 per night. That didn’t seem so outrageous when you considered that this sexy boutique hotel had less than 160 rooms and was worth $90 million. Even this summer two of my girlfriends stayed at the Ivy Hotel and paid $250 per night. Hearing those numbers first, your credit card just might jump out of your wallet when you find out that rooms are going for $141 per night this fall, based on availability.
We can thank the luxury hotel specialists Mr & Mrs Smith for this deal — that I found through DealBase. This special offer, which has rooms with 42% savings, is unique to their membership. (Note that the membership is on offer to DealBase readers for only $10, normally $20), but that’s a small fee for the big savings.
If you have any doubts, check out the hotel’s direct website for a long list of amenities that includes free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, a hopping Quarter Kitchen Bar on weekends, full bottle in-room bar, iPod docking station, Korres environmentally friendly body care products, a personal concierge and more.
When: Book by Nov. 30 for travel through that date.
Blackout dates: Oct. 3, 5-8, 17, 28-31 and Nov. 13-15.
Note: Without the membership, I found rooms on Mr & Mrs Smith at random dates in October and November for $213 a night.
