Good morning, travelers! It’s Wi-Fi Wednesday for all you road warriors out there.
Airline news | Southwest Airlines has started testing their in-flight Wi-Fi with Row 44. Jaunted has the scoop and makes a prediction that their Internet routes could include Vegas, Chicago-Midway and Phoenix. If you fly Southwest regularly, tell us what routes you’d love to see get connected.
Meanwhile, Virgin America is already catering to Web-addicted laptop travelers. They launched their California service to Boston today, on which there will be Wi-Fi on every flight. Virgin America will have three daily flights between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and BOS, and two daily roundtrips between San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and BOS. They are using Gogo in-flight Wi-Fi, $12.95.
Business travel | Those lucky East Coasters get Wi-Fi on their buses. It’s called “First-Class Coach” travel on new buses with electrical outlets and free Wi-Fi. Where? Between Arlington, Va. (outside of Washington, D.C.), and Bethesda, Md. and New York, N.Y. Promotional fares on the new TripperBus are $1, $5 and $10 one-way. Service begins Feb. 13, 2009. Note: The BoltBus, which also runs between New York and D.C., also has Wi-Fi.

I’d love WiFi for any flights out of San Diego. Not sure they need WiFi for flights coming into or out of Vegas since most passengers will be too blitzed to work on their laptops.

I flew one of these wi-fi enabled aircraft last week. It was a Southwest flight from Burbank, CA to Las Vegas, NV. You can read about my experiences on my blog.
