Roundup: Qantas passengers calm during emergency landing; green travel news; San Pedro’s free Music by the Sea concert

Good morning, travelers. Aloha Friday!

Airline news | Read “Qantas jet lands with gaping hole in fuselage” and tell me if you’d be as calm as those passengers. I was also impressed that the staff continued to work the aisles during the rest of the flight. I’d like to think that I’d be calm, but that might translate more to quiet on the outside, not calm on the inside.

In local airline news, United and JetBlue are reducing flights in Southern California airports. Was one of your regular routes affected?

Local | Are you looking for something to do this weekend? Check out San Pedro’s Music by the Sea concert series. There is a free event July 27 at Point Fermin Park.

Travel Fun | Check out Grant Martin’s post on Gadling about creating your own luggage tag with Northwest Airlines frequent-flier miles.

Green Travel news
| I’m liking the roundups of green travel news from Traveling the Green Way. Its blog posts are even meatier.
