Roundup: Orange County Fair; Santa Barbara’s Old Spanish Days Fiesta; more flight cancellations at JFK today

Orange County Fair: Fry it Up aritcle - Fried Oreo cookies

Good morning travelers! Did you know there are some local festivals going on? Catch them while you still can.

Orange County
| This is the last weekend of the Orange County Fair. It is on through Aug. 3, 2008. Head down to Costa Mesa to hear Matchbox Twenty tonight or to dig into the carnival food. Los Angeles Times Staff Writer Elina Shatkin talks about the fried food at the fair and offers up a photo gallery of some unhealthy treats you just can’t resist. Which will you choose — frog legs or fried Oreo cookies (pictured)? Read: Fry it Up!

Santa Barbara | Celebrate Santa Barbara’s heritage with Old Spanish Days this weekend. Stop by La Cumbre Plaza between 4:45p.m. and 7p.m. for flamenco dancing or El Mercado del Norte for Spanish-Mexican foods and beverages, carnival rides and more. Visit Old Spanish Days for more info and local public transportation routes.

Airline News | More flight cancellations are expected at JFK today. It turns out it was a software glitch that caused the American Airlines baggage snafu Wednesday.

Love the festivals. We just got back from Mykonos (for Jet Set Life)and there were festivals every day. Fantastic! The donuts looked a little different though. I think they call them Loukamadis. Have Fun.
