Good morning, travelers! The beauty of a Monday holiday is that it makes for a short work week. Yes, Friday is here. Enjoy your weekend and don’t forget to submit photos of the L.A. County Fair to Your Scene if you go. Admission is only $1 today if you get there before 5 p.m.
LAX | As you recall, LAX workers went on strike last week right before the Labor Day weekend travel rush. Since then Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama has voiced his support. “The demands they’re fighting for aren’t unreasonable — access to healthcare, adequate training, proper equipment, wages that can support a family,” said Obama (D-Ill.). “They’re what America’s workers deserve.” Read: Barack Obama supports LAX airline service workers.
Love travel | Know your make-out rules before you engage in a little spontaneous love on the road. A British couple are facing up to six years in prison for allegedly having unmarried sex on the beach in Dubai. The woman, caught with her top off, says they were not having sex. Hawaii Superferry deal | The last time we checked, it was arguable that riding the Superferry versus taking a flight in Hawaii between Oahu and Maui wasn’t really a deal because of time and convenience factors. But starting Sept. 8, 2008, Superferry is lowering its fares to $49 each way through Oct. 31, 2008. When: Valid for travel Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays as well as some Friday and Sunday voyages. If you book 14 days in advance you can knock off another $5. Senior (age 62 and older) and child (ages 2 to 12) fares will remain at $39 each way. Contact: Hawaii Superferry, (877) 443-3779.
