Roundup: New $1-billion hotel coming to L.A.; Butterfly Jungle at San Diego’s Wild Animal Park; Dogs travel 2,000 miles for canine cancer

The Wilshire Grand hotel was originally a Hotel Statler and later a Hilton. Korean Air bought the hotel in 1989.

Travel Blogosphere | Budget Travel’s This Just in tells us that butterflies are all the rage at San Diego’s  Wild Animal Park this weekend. Head on over to the Nairobi Village, where you fill find the Hidden Jungle, a tropical aviary exhibit that looks like a South American rain forest. The Butterfly Jungle will be open April 4-26. Find out more about kids activities and events on the zoo calendar page. Note: Although connected to the San Diego Zoo, the Wild Animal Park is about 31 miles north of the San Diego Zoo.
