Roundup: Dutch-to-English translator link to follow Amsterdam plane crash on Twitter; Cheap Europe travel in March with Air France sale

In this image made from television, rescue personnel are seen at the site of a Turkish Airlines plane that slammed into a field while attempting to land at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport.

Airline news | A Turkish Airlines plane crashed in a nearby field just short of Amsterdam’s Schipol Airport (AMS). Nine of the 134 people on board were killed, including the pilots, and more than 50 were injured. Twitter pointed to even more news about the crash, such as an image of where the plane crashed in comparison to the runway and a passenger list of those on board. Follow hashtag #schiphol for updates on Twitter. Lots of the tweets are in Dutch, so here’s a Dutch to English translator link.

Travel deals | There’s a big Europe airfare sale on Air France. Book by Thursday, Feb. 26, for travel March 1 through March 31, 2009. Flights between Los Angeles (LAX) and Paris (CDG) are as low as $273 each way. I found nonstop flights (March 4-March 12) for $652 round-trip including taxes. A seven-day advance purchase is necessary.
