Airline news | Are you following the stock market as it pertains to the airline industry? The Associated Press released an interesting article yesterday afternoon that revealed most of the familiar airlines such as United Airlines and Delta Airlines had minor changes that were a mere few cents in either direction.
However, U.S. Airways lost 12.1% or 50 cents to close at $3.63. Meanwhile Southwest Airlines gained 16 cents to end at $11.75. Which airline do you think was left completely unchanged yesterday? The answer is Continental Airlines at $10.95. Read: Some airlines’ shares climb above Dow’s storm [Business Week]
Local | The opening of the Hotel Shangri-La in Santa Monica (pictured) has been delayed until the end of October. [HotelChatter] From the website photo, it sure looks to be worth the wait.
Airport news | If you’ve been thinking about getting a Clear pass to speed through security at airports, note that prices will go up Oct. 15. Right now the passes are $128 a year but they are going up to $199.
Currently San Francisco, Oakland, Reno and San Jose are the only California and Nevada airports that use the pass, but if you travel to JFK, LaGuardia, Dulles and Atlanta regularly you might want to have a look. A full list of airports and information about how the quick-through security lines work can be found on the website.
