Rome: Skip the lines at Vatican & Sistine Chapel

LAT Sistine Chapel photo, Christine WebbIf you’ve already been to Rome, you know that the lines to get into the Vatican and Sistine Chapel are horrendous—easily two hours long. Susan Chenery discovered Helen Donegan’s private after-hour tours of the Vatican ($341/person) and wrote about seeing the uncrowded Sistine Chapel in, “A more intimate look at Vatican art & the Sistine Chapel“. Here are a few alternatives to skip the lines for under $60.

Deals: Believe it or not, museums have VIP lines, too. Pay a little extra to skip the lines and get a guided tour. They even pick you up at your hotel or cruise port (for an additional charge).

Viator: Skip the Line: Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel Coach Tour—$58.55

My Vatican Tour: Has last-minute ticket offers. You can skip the line (and the guided tour) for only $40 (€ 29)

Vatican Museums Tour: Book a guided tour directly through the Vatican Museums for $32 (€ 23.50)
