Rick Steves’ photos from Iran; L.A. Zoo Beastly Ball; Spirit Air customer service?

Gorilla Feast at the Los Angeles Zoo promoting the 38th Annual Beastly Ball

Good morning travelers! Friday is here. This week went by quickly. I’m in Las Vegas this weekend where the weather is still gorgeous despite a little rain earlier this week. We expect it to be in the 90s this weekend, and believe me, it’s pleasant.

| Check out Rick Steves’ Iran slideshow – and his blog if you want to catch up on his trip. Note: The photos in the slideshow are different than the ones used on the blog.

Local – L.A. Zoo | There are some great pics of gorillas eating a vegetarian feast made by top chefs in Los Angeles. It was a promotion for the 38th Annual Beastly Ball, a fundraiser to be held June 14 at the Los Angeles Zoo. $1,000 tickets allow guests to stroll the zoo after hours and proceeds go toward trying to save the California condor from extinction.

Puerto Vallarta | Los Angeles Times Staff Writer Reed Johnson gives us a look at “Puerto Vallarta Arte Contemporáneo 08,” a five-day marathon of art shows, panel discussions, walking tours and public art projects. Read: Puerto Vallarta’s not just for tourists, it’s for artists too.

Airline fallout
| Over at the Elliott blog, there is talk of Spirit’s elusive customer service department. This is in alignment with our readers who are having trouble getting through to them.

Jessica Says:
“The Spirit customer service line is totally disabled as of 6/5. I’ve been calling all morning to dispute a duplicate charge, and all extensions are going straight to a busy signal.”

NB: I tried to call Spirit myself this morning for comment and got the same busy signal. We hope that Spirit will post a comment or reply here to the blog if they have any information about customers calling in for customer service.

Have you been able to talk to anyone at Spirit Airline’s Customer Service within the last few days?
