Q&A: cost of flight to Australia from Canada?

Qantas Aussie Canada Air Pass ZonesHere is a Q&A item from our recent travel post, “Australia: Qantas Air Pass, fares rise after Dec. 8.”

Q. Mrs Pham thi asked: What’s the fare for leaving from Quebec City (YQB) to Adelaide (ADL) and 2 or 3 stops within Australia and back home to Quebec City. 08/02 to 08/03

A. Hi, Mrs. Pham thi. Qantas has an AirPass for travelers whose trips originate in Canada. Fares start dropping month by month after Jan. 31 until June 1 when they turn around again. For travel on the AirPass in February and March from Quebec City, you’d have to get yourself to Montreal. Qantas will also add $300 to fly to Los Angeles for the rest of the flight.

The cost of the flight would be $2,099 for travel in Zone 1 including stops in Sydney, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Melbourne and back to Sydney before returning to Montreal. You could choose your stops on the AirPass, those were just the ones I selected. Prices vary depending on which zones you’re traveling between — the more zones you travel between, the higher the cost. Taxes and fees are not included in the price that I found.
