Chicago’s Grant Park and New York’s Times Square might have had the big crowds, but residents of Obama, Japan, certainly had the big name.

Obama, a city of 32,000 that had embarked on an “Obama for Obama” campaign, partied in Hawaiian garb in honor of the president-elect’s heritage, the Associated Press reports. There were Obama Girls (housewives doing the hula) amid a crowd of about 1,500.
Obama means “little beach” in Japanese, perfect for the onetime fishing town that relies “almost entirely on tourism,” according to the AP.
