Best places for talking like a pirate in Las Vegas

Treasure Island Las Vegas: Sirens of TI show

Arrgh! Ya don’t need no special reason to go to Vegas, but if you’re already anchored in Sin City and you want to make the most of your pirattitude, here are your best bets for where to show off your eye patch and Capt. Jack hats. But go prepared, matey — get your pirate nickname first and sharpen your pirate lingo at talklikeapirate.com.

Treasure Island | Don’t miss the seductive Sirens of TI show (free) in the Sirens’ Cove at the front entrance of Treasure Island Hotel and Casino. Shows run nightly at 7 p.m., 8:30 p.m., 10 p.m., and 11:30 p.m. Tip: Don’t fight the crowds on the street. There are also great views from the outside dining area at Social House and if you’re up late, from the nightclub Christian Audigier (that took the place of Tangerine).

Pickup lines for pirates | “I’ve sailed the seven seas, and you’re the sleekest schooner I’ve ever sighted.” The Pirate Guys have come up with a variety of pickup lines for International Talk Like a Pirate Day. And Vegas is the perfect place to use them. Shiver me timbers, surely you can come up with something better for the beauties.

King Tut’s Pub | The Las Vegas Blues Society has organized a special International Talk Like a Pirate Day blues jam at King Tut’s Pub, 6138 W. Charleston, (702) 258-6344. When: Sept. 20, from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville | Margaritaville Las Vegas is not doing anything special for Talk Like a Pirate Day…arrgh…but Jimmy Buffett acknowledges TLAPD and many pirate fans enjoy his music too. Ahoy parrotheads!

For the wee scallywags | There are story time events for the little pirates at two libraries — one in Spring Valley and the other in Henderson. Read the Las Vegas Review Journal for more info: Avast! It be time for international Talk Like a Pirate Day.

Know any swashbuckling pirate jokes?

Well, if unleashing my inner Buccaneer is going to help me lose
weight (hey, it says that on the cover of the Pirate Life book.) then I’m in!

By the way? Who decided that Sept. 19 is Int’l. Talk Like a Pirate Day?

Arrgh, so that be the reason. I walked out onto the pier this morning and felt the overwhelming urge to say “Avast, Matey” and “Shiver me timbers”. of course its only a lake but there “could” be pirates, Me Bucko!!!

    Ahoy!

I kind of think the best place to talk like a pirate is in the office.

    Arrr.

I interviewed the two founders of talk like a pirate day and they told me that one of the reasons the holiday went viral is that anyone can do it anywhere and anyhow they want.

    Easy.

Any way, here’s my interview: http://blog.mixergy.com/talk-like-pirate/
