Calling all amateur photographers: If you have some phenomenal photos from travels in Israel, Turkey or Brazil, it’s time to share them for possible fame and fortune — or at least a free trip, or some guidebooks. See below for a couple of photo contests with deadlines this month.
Brazilian Tourist Board: Our friends at the Chicago Tribune found this contest, sponsored by the Brazilian Tourist Board, in which you are invited to submit a photo and a 100-word essay describing how your “photo captures the beauty of Brazil.” Multiple entries are allowed.
The grand prize is an all-expenses-paid, seven-night trip for two to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. One first-prize winner will receive an autographed image from Peter Guttman, and a second-prize winner wins a book on photography. This contest is open to U.S. residents 18 years of age and older, and the deadline is Nov. 21, 2008.
Fodor’s: Fodors.com is running two photography contests: “Show Us Your Israel” and “Show Us Your Turkey.” Registered Fodors.com users (if you’re not already a member, you can sign up forĀ free) can submit photos, along with descriptions, shot in Israel or Turkey.
The grand-prize winner of each will win a complete Fodor’s guidebooks collection and may also have his or her photo appear in a future guidebook. Ten runners-up in each contest will win two guidebooks of their choice, and all winning photos will appear in a Fodors.com slide show. Entry deadline is Nov. 10, 2008.
