Susan Spano’s “Postcards From Rome”
“Luciano Pavarotti: The Man Who Moved the World,” an exhibition celebrating the art and life of the Italian tenor who died on Sept. 6, 2007, has opened in Rome’s Vittoriano Complex and runs through Dec. 8.
The free show features photos of Pavarotti with everyone from the Dalai Lama to Bon Jovi, as well as awards he was given — including keys to the cities of Coral Gables, Fla., and San Francisco — and costumes he wore in productions at La Scala in Milan and the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
Another item in the show is a letter written to him by Frank Sinatra, thanking the opera star for joining him on a recording of “My Way” in 1995.
Best of all, video segments of the great tenor run nonstop on a big screen, reminding fans of a younger Pavarotti singing “Questo o Quella” from Verdi’s “Rigoletta,” and “Holy Mother” with Eric Clapton.
