Park Hyatt’s new juices hydrate the jet-lagged

Park Hyatt concoction

Frequent fliers have tried it all: melatonin, homeopathic remedies, over-the-counters and even dried cherries. But most of us still feel totally pooped, and maybe a little parched, after a long-haul flight.

Park Hyatt answers the call of the jet-lagged and weary with a glass of juice. As of this month — after using pilot programs in Dubai, Paris and Moscow — all of the hotel chain’s properties are offering organic smoothies and juices targeting specific complaints that nag travelers.

Take the Anti Jet Lag Juice. It contains kale, which purportedly aids in detoxification, and pumpkin seeds, which “assist in producing the body’s sleep hormone, melatonin,” according to a Park Hyatt news release.

Did you leave the germ-ridden flight cabin with a little sniffle? Try the Immune System Juice, a concoction of orange, pineapple and red apple with a ginger kick. This one is supposed to help your respiratory tract and immune system as a whole.

If the in-flight meal’s given you a funny tummy, perhaps you’ll want the Care Smoothie, which features raspberries (an antioxidant) and aloe vera, which helps with digestion.

Drinks are $10 a pop, and exact offerings vary by location. The juices are part of the Healthy Living at Hyatt” menu developed with the help of Brazilian nutritionist Patricia Teixeira. They’re worth a taste test, I’d say. After all, even if swilling one glass of juice doesn’t make the jet lag vanish, it may serve as a better toast to good health than, say, that double espresso.
