Each week we ask readers to send us their best travel picture for consideration as a Your Scene Editor’s Choice Travel photo of the week. This week we selected Gene Domingo’s picture of a couple kissing at the Eiffel Tower.
The photo has a timeless quality and is a bit breathtaking, an intimate moment set against the dizzying backdrop of Paris’ most famous tourist attraction.
Maybe it’s the fact that it’s in black and white, or that the moment captured is so surprising, but something about this photo reminds me of Alfred Eisenstaedt’s famous Life magazine image of a sailor kissing a nurse in Times Square on VJ Day in 1945. But maybe a kiss is just a kiss the world over?
