Paris airports are shut down because of high winds

Flying to Paris today? No you’re not.

Both Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Paris-Orly (ORY) have been shut on orders of the French Civil Aviation Authority because of fierce winds. They are not expected to reopen until at least 10 a.m. Tuesday, Paris time.

In the meantime, Air France says it booked 1,400 hotel rooms in Paris for passengers stranded in transit.

Customers can cancel their flights free of charge or reschedule them up to March 9, the airline said. For information, call 011-33-1-5702-1058 or visit the Air France website.

Air France says it is notifying customers by text message or e-mail, which is a good reminder: If you haven’t signed up to get these from your favorite airlines, you may miss urgent alerts like this one.

The Paris closures are the latest travel disruptions caused by rough weather in Europe, which has brought the worst winter storms in a decade or more to Britain, France and Spain, Bloomberg News reports.
