Paris airfare deal from Los Angeles (LAX): Christmas in France

The 600-foot-long main building of the Quai Branly Museum sits atop stilts and is adorned by 30 multicolored blocks.

Deal: Air Tahiti Nui is offering nonstop round-trip flights between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Charles De Gaulle Airport (CDG) in Paris for $894, including taxes and fuel surcharge.

When: The travel window is Nov. 1, 2008 to Jan. 31, 2009, with some holiday and post-holiday dates excepted.

Just testing: On Thursday, AirfareWatchdog found a sample fare departing LAX at 11:45 a.m. on Monday Dec. 22 on an Airbus A340, arriving in Paris the next day at 7:45 a.m., with a return flight from Paris at 11:30 a.m. on Monday Dec. 29, arriving LAX the same day at 2:35 p.m.

When I performed the same exact search on the Air Tahiti Nui website at 3 p.m. Sunday, the lowest fare I found was $1,048.50 per person, with a flexible return date of Dec. 29-31 (departing either Dec. 22 or Dec. 24).

Your feedback: If you manage to book this deal or something similar, share the details in the Comments.

Caveats: From AirfareWatchdog: “On this page, we show ‘real life’ examples of the unusually low fares that we’ve been able to book on Travelocity and other sites. We offer these fares as ‘proof’ that such fares were actually bookable, because sometimes the fares we list are so low that people think we’re making this stuff up. Only the most recent (top) fares are likely to be bookable when you read this, since some of these fares are unadvertised fare reductions that last only a short while.”

More airfare deals in print: Pick up this Sunday’s LAT Travel section for a full chart on Page 11 of the best fares from LAX, SNA, BUR, LGB and ONT to domestic and international destinations: From Atlanta ($358 from LAX), Honolulu ($650 from LAX) and Washington D.C. ($298 from BUR) to Auckland ($1,338 from LAX), Taipei ($965 from LAX) and Tokyo ($990 from LAX). [Fine print: Domestic fares include sales tax; international fares do not. See the newspaper's weekly Sunday "Airfares" chart for all the details.]
