Since it opened in February, the Ace Hotel & Swim Club in Palm Springs has inspired many a colorful description. The Los Angeles Times review sums up the hotel’s character as “camp chic meets a retro vibe” in a “converted Howard Johnson’s that takes greenness and a communal spirit in stride.” Having already spotted unusual décor during her stay (e.g., the diorama pictured above), reviewer Beverly Beyette “barely blinked when a waiter bearing drinks rolled by on a skateboard.”

Time Out called Ace Hotel a “hipster haven.” TripAdvisor member reviews, a mix of positives and negatives, include one headline that reads “Fun, funky, friendly and affordable.” Another calls it “A boutique motel for the creative classes.”
And the venue was apparently the coolest place to stay during Coachella. The title of a recent HotelChatter post says it all, really: Ace Hotel Palm Springs Partied With Booze Sno-Cones for Coachella.
If you’ve been to the hotel, let us know about your experience. If you haven’t been but are keen to check out the buzz-generator for yourself, then the hotel is offering a few incentives, including these:
