Palazzo Las Vegas room rates vs. Wynn & Caesars

Palazzo Las Vegas - Photo gallery of exclusive LAT images opens in a new tab/windowThe Palazzo has opened its glitzy doors in Las Vegas but whether or not people care is in question.

The Las Vegas Vegas Blog called it “more of the same” and shared pictures of fountains and big ceilings. HotelChatter also got some candid traveler photos that showed hardly anyone in the casino.

Los Angeles Times Staff Writer Ashley Powers was also there and said that “At Jay Z’s 40/40 club, TV screens were turned to Fox News, which was broadcasting updates on that other newsmaker, the Nevada caucus.” But word on the street is that owner Sheldon Adelson is too focused on Macao to care about Vegas.

I love trying different Vegas hotel and resort rooms, so I’m sure I will eventually sample a room in the Palazzo Tower. In the meantime, here’s how the Palazzo room rates stack up compared with other luxe rooms on the Vegas Strip. For a three-day weekend stay in February (Feb. 7–10, 2008), here’s how prices compared (pre-tax) when booked directly at each of the hotel’s websites.

Palazzo: A base-level Palazzo luxury suite starting at $259 for a total of $887

Wynn: Resort rooms start at an average room rate of $352 per night or $1,056

Caesars: A room in the Augustus Tower is $1,120

Tip: Don’t’ bother searching for rooms on other travel websites. The Palazzo doesn’t show up yet on FareCast Hotels or Hotels.com. N.B.: Expedia lists the Palazzo, but wasn’t returning any availability.

It looks like your best bet for now is to call (866) 263-3001, e-mail reservations@palazzolasvegas.com or book directly through the hotel’s website.

When I go to Vegas my first choice is still the MGM. I think their Sky Suites are still the best rooms in Vegas.
