“35 travel deals of a lifetime.” Those are some big words. Especially when everywhere you look there are airfare and hotel deals. Today we heard about $15 one-way Tax Day airfare sale with Allegiant Air and US Airways was offering $89 two-night flight-plus-hotel Vegas deals out of LAX on TravelZoo. CheapCaribbean.com has a 50% to 70% off vacation package sale. It feels like it’s raining travel deals. So, what did Outside have to offer? Adventure deals, that’s what.
In April 2009, Outside lists the trips they believe offer big adventure for the “wallet-conscious nomad” in “Go Farther, Spend Less.”
You won’t find any deals for less than $1,200 but most of the trips are at least five days if not 10 and can take you as close as Yosemite for a five-day float-plus-hike trip ($1,900) or as far as New Zealand for an eight-day multi-sport adrenaline rush ($2,300). The 21-day trip climbing live volcanoes in Indonesia was marked as a “killer deal” ($2,800). Lots of the trips had extra tips on how to save more money or take advantage of special coupons/offers.
