How do you get tickets to the Jan. 20, 2009, inauguration of Barack Obama and Joe Biden?
It’s the thought popping into many people’s mind as they mull grabbing a flight (maybe you already have booked one) to Washington, D.C., for a front-row seat to history. But how do you get that front-row seat, or any seat for that matter, to watch Barack Obama be sworn in as the 44th president of the United States? Let’s just say it’s probably easier to get a bill through Congress — but that doesn’t mean you can’t try.
The theme of the 2009 inauguration will be “A New Birth of Freedom,” and for the first time, a woman and a Californian — Sen. Dianne Feinstein — heads the committee overseeing some of the festivities, the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies.
So, let’s start with the basics.
The events: There are many — the parade, the swearing-in ceremony, the balls, etc. — and different committees (some of which haven’t even been formed yet) plan different aspects of the inauguration and issue and distribute tickets differently. Confusing enough for you yet?
The tickets: Let me just say this emphatically for those who still have money to burn despite the recession: Anyone selling a ticket to, say, the swearing-in ceremony, simply doesn’t have the goods. The 240,000 tickets that have been printed for this event “are in a secure location,” according to the committee.
“Any website or ticket broker claiming that they have inaugural tickets is simply not telling the truth,” Howard Gantman, staff director for the committee, said in a release. “Tickets for the swearing-in of President-elect are all provided through members of Congress, and the President-elect and Vice President-elect through the Presidential Inaugural Committee. We urge the public to view any offers of tickets for sale with great skepticism.”
The truth: Tickets to the swearing-in ceremony are free — but you have to request them from your U.S. representative or senator. Best to call his or her Washington office if you haven’t already. (I called the office of my congresswoman, Jane Harman, and got a staff person who didn’t yet have much information but helped me navigate to the “request a tour” form on Harman’s website so I could get a virtual place in line.) Demand will be high, and there’s no guarantee you’ll get tickets if they run out.
The loophole: It’s not illegal to resell your ticket, but it is, well, discouraged. “We can’t stop people from turning around and selling those tickets, but it goes against the spirit of an open public inauguration,” said media spokeswoman Carole Florman. But constituents won’t be able to pick up their tickets until the day before the event — leaving little time for an EBay bidding war.
The weather: After all that, even if you are one of the lucky 240,000 who gets a ticket held on the west front of the Capitol building, you may get shut out if the weather tanks. Inclement weather could force the ceremony inside (as it did in 1985 when President Reagan’s inauguration was held inside the Rotunda), dropping the number of spectators from hundreds of thousands to a few hundred.
Everything else: The parade and balls are organized by the Presidential Inaugural Committee, which is just being formed. This committee determines the type of inaugural events to hold, raises private money to fund them and decides how to distribute the tickets.
More on that when I get hold of those folks…

I did not vote for OBAMA; why would I try to get a ticket to this farce, when I have no plans to view it on TV?
November 6th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
Do you think my Senator will get me one? Hmm, what is Senator McCain’s phone number…
November 6th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
In response to Judith Nees: you are obviously a hater, and I’d like to rain on your parade — why don’t you withhold your criticism until at least until after the inauguration?
November 7th, 2008 at 12:11 am
Mary, thank you for this beautiful article. While reading this is the closest I may get to being there, it makes me smile to know that those 240,000 tickets, however hard to obtain, are free. I hope you’ll write follow-up stories on all of the inaugural events as you receive additional information. It’s a great way for us “common folk” out here on the West Coast to feel connected.
November 7th, 2008 at 12:13 am
Judit, why dont you just even take an 8 yr vacation to some destination outside the US. If you still cant accept the verdict and call it all a farce, then truly folks like you have no longer have a place in this country. This is a new world with a new beginning.
November 7th, 2008 at 12:57 am

November 7th, 2008 at 3:20 am
I am unemployed but would crawl across the country and stand in the rain to attend this great man’s event.
November 7th, 2008 at 3:23 am
This would be an amazing and obviously historical event to attend. Regardless of your political affiliation!
November 7th, 2008 at 3:38 am
More importantly, Judith, why would you comment on the fact that wouldn’t try and get a ticket. If you didn’t want one, why read the article in the first place?
November 7th, 2008 at 4:04 am
John McCain displayed class in his concession speech. Maybe we underling opponents should follow suit…Remember what a GREAT American said:
“We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools.”
November 7th, 2008 at 4:09 am
Agree with Judith I did not vote for Mr.Obama.Probably be asleep since I work nights.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:53 am
you really need to be a big fan of obama to get the airtickets and book the hotel to washington to attend this function instead of watching it in your own home.
November 7th, 2008 at 5:28 am
Although Iam from Sri Lanka and was
not a voter to Obama I am very much
happy to see his swearing in ceremony
in the TV taking place on the 20th
of January,2009.
November 7th, 2008 at 6:09 am
Great article, I was wondering that very thing myself.
November 7th, 2008 at 6:11 am
It would be an honor to attend this great historic event. I think ALL Americans should be proud of this moment whether you voted for President Elect Obama or Senator McCain.
No time to be bitter we must all support our new President. God Bless America
November 7th, 2008 at 6:19 am
judith nees@: So what is your point? Who cares not me about you..
November 7th, 2008 at 6:51 am
Judith, Judith, Judith, I’m sure you don’t make more than $250,000 a year and you’re probably just as broke as a homeless person. So you thought by not voting for Obama, McCain was going to make your finances above average? Do you even listen when ppl speak? You must have been hybernating during this whole election. Put the hater-ade down & get some Obama-ade. We must UNITE.
November 7th, 2008 at 6:54 am
Everyone needs to stop hating and LEARN to respect our next president of this beautiful country of freedom. I live in Maryland and WILL be going for sure. Just remember, just because we have freedom of speech, that doesn’t give you the right to hate. That is not what PRESIDENT Obama is about. Change is coming! Learn to embrace that!
November 7th, 2008 at 7:01 am
“judith, sometimes the paper includes stories that are not about you personally, but might interest other people…”
LOL.
November 7th, 2008 at 7:25 am
Sad, sad, sad - to describe this as a farce. The hate spewed by the opposition during the campaign apparently continues among some. She must have been a sore loser as a kid - took her ball and went home. Had McCain won, I would have been devastated, but I would have been a “patriotic” American and rendered him respect and support.
November 7th, 2008 at 7:34 am
Well, I would love to attend the greatest ceremony on earth but the prognosis look grim. I will try to get tickets to see this defining, sacred and historic moment in my life time.
November 7th, 2008 at 7:35 am
How bitter Judith. GET OVER IT! God Blessed America. Maybe one day you will see it too.
November 7th, 2008 at 7:40 am
Judith wants attention. Most Obama supporters showed the upmost respect and empathy for the McCain supporter and of course Senator McCain. Unfortunately, some of his supporters do not have the same class and love for the country as McCain does and that is a shame. That negative energy you have is not going to do you any good and you may just miss an opportunity to really show your love for your country and the people in it because you are so busy being bitter. Yes, I would be disappointed if President elect Obama had not won but I would have been respectful to the McCain supporters. How I know, I showed this respect to the Bush supporters. Most of us were darn near suicidal knowing this man Bush was going to run our country for another four years and yes some expressed it in a disrespectful way. But what good did that do them? I personally bit the bullet, and tried to find the good things he has done, acknowledge he was not the brightest of the butch but I believed in spite of his short comings, he was a descent human being with people like his family that love him. I just hope, if you have young children, you are not teaching them the hate and bitterness you are displaying. That would be ashamed because we don’t always get what we want.
November 7th, 2008 at 7:48 am
Judith, very unamerican of you. You are to be ashamed of yourself.
November 7th, 2008 at 8:30 am
i will not be able to attend the swearing-in ceremony because i don’t live in america i just want to wish barack obama all the best in his administration.
November 7th, 2008 at 8:43 am
First off let me Say, I am not an Ombama Supporter never was. But we do need change and I do believe, that the American people when rallying behind one man, to have faith, to move in a positive direction. Can Achieve great things as a country. All It would take, is for us to listen instead of persecute, belittle or condisend due to our own ignorrance. I to want America to be looked at as strong and a great people, Not for what we stand for now in the eyes of so many in other parts of the world. Let the party’s unite for the commom good. We can do it for our favorite Baseball team when we go to the staduim. Why can’t we do it for our country
November 7th, 2008 at 8:54 am
All of us here can conclude that one commenter, Judith, has brought her hate and frustrations of having her vote be wasted to this forum. The night of the election, John McCain stood up and showed his support for Obama in a very respectable manner. There is no reason for this kind of hate.
November 7th, 2008 at 9:12 am
“We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools.” - Actually that was Martin Luther King. Last time I was in D.C. I stood on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and was overwhelmed by the many memories that flooded in. What a wonderful city to visit. This article inspires me to be there for this historic event. Thanks.
November 7th, 2008 at 9:32 am
In response to both JEN and Judith, it’s really sad that you refer to this as a “farce” not to mention your comments are very UnAmerican. Such comments, disrespect, tone and attitudes are the very root cause for division/separtism and hatred in this country. Unfortunately, individuals such as yourselves have been asleep for the past 8 years and it’s time to WAKE UP and get onboard. If you haven’t learned anything throughout this entire election process at least try to “WAKE UP” and know that this is a new UNITED States of America. If you really hate it that much, the good news is that there is a such thing as a passport, plane, train and automobile and you have options and can leave. You are not forced to stay here and be miserable. God bless!
November 7th, 2008 at 9:34 am
I read Judith comments and it’s apparent she leads a bitter life. I agree with those who said even if President Elect Obama had not won I would still show my respect for Senator McCain. I am sick and tired of how this country has gotten the reputation of being a powerhouse and land of free when our own people who live here can’t appreciate or at least respect change. Judith, perhaps you should go live somewhere else where the government will tell you what to wear, who to marry and dictate what you read and watch on TV!
November 7th, 2008 at 9:42 am
Judith,
Maybe you will not think it is such a farce when you lose your job, retirement savings, and healthcare along with the almost 1 million people who have because of failed government under the Bush Administration that McCain admitted he supported over 90% of the time even more than his Republican Constituents for the last 8 years. McCain could not make a sound judgment on selecting a qualified running mate. He used the (I don’t have a clue) Joe the Plumber (I evaded paying taxes, was on welfare, no child support paying, without a license, wish I was a real plumber) as the poster child for small businesses? He does not have a small business and cannot run one without a license.
I am astonished that people actually bought into all of that hype. He used Sarah Palin, someone he had not even met until weeks before the announcing her as his running mate (and he did use her) to capture female voters even though she was clearly unqualified for the job as VP of our country amid all the woes of the economy, war, the housing crisis etc. He really does think women are that gullible! And some of them were.
November 7th, 2008 at 9:42 am
I think many people with other intentions jumped on McCain’s bandwagon not even interested in his direction or candidacy. For example White Supremist to name one group. They used his campaign as a way to SLASH OUT. Now that McCain accepts the election results and honorably shows his American Patriotism, those with other motives stand out to show who they really are. Instead of hiding behind a WHITE SHEET they hid behind McCain. Now they are just looking for those who will support their racist cause. They are the true minority. STOP THE HATE. WE CAN ALL GET ALONG.
November 7th, 2008 at 9:48 am
Now, now Judith, since you are obviously so bitter about Sen.McCains’ loss, theres always Guns or Religion to cling to.Lol
November 7th, 2008 at 9:50 am
I am a twenty two year retired Army Veteran and proudly a democrat. I have obeyed the orders of and proudly supported many Presidents for whom I did not vote. But I did it proudly and proudly look forward to supporting a President for who I voted!

November 7th, 2008 at 10:15 am
The first greatest days of my life was when my children were born. The second greatest day of my life was when Obama, was selected to be our president. I to am a product of a biracial relationship. I thank my generation of peers, to make such a wise, and intelligant decision to choose Obama as president elect. Because of my generations positive decision the world will forever be grateful.
November 7th, 2008 at 11:01 am
First off..Congratulation President Barack Obama…i am from the caribbean and yes i voted and was proud to see that my vote did count…to all the judit’s(ignorant ones)what u have to realize that no matter how much of a farce u want to call it(him), honey wake and smell the coffee…Barack Obama is ur president like it or not…u may not recall Dr King’s speech the I HAVE A DREAM, ONE DAY WE WL NOT BE JUDGE BY THE COLOR OF SKIN BUT BY THE CONTENTS OF OUR CHARACTER”
November 7th, 2008 at 11:09 am
I think mostly Judith needs to look up the definition of the word farce. Because whether she voted for Obama or not, he did indeed get elected (by a considerable majority), so his inauguration is not actually a farce at all…( I can’t say so much about Bush’s inauguration in 2000, however)
November 7th, 2008 at 11:17 am
This is the inauguration of a President ordained by God Almighty and hailed world over. Why would somebody call such a heavenly inauguration a farce? I think this racist comment is a product of an old world order. Take this: President Barack Obama will be on the throne for eight prosperous years, the greatest that America and the world will ever have!
November 7th, 2008 at 11:20 am
I stand in agreement with Helena. Why must we judge a person by the color of their skin. The color of a person skin has nothing to do with their character. WE are one.
We are the United State Of America. Love it or leave, there are no fence keep you here.
November 7th, 2008 at 12:16 pm
Judith, it looks like you got their attention. Stay focus people.

it seems you need it.
November 7th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
I didn’t vote for Obama, and I don’t agree with his views on many things, but I STILL WANT TO GO TO THE INAUGURATION. I WANT TO BE THERE TO SEE THE FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT SWORN IN. This is an amazing historical moment.
November 7th, 2008 at 12:51 pm
PLEASE PLEASE LET ME HAVE A TICKET, I WILL SEND MONEY…..BUT WHERE DO I SEND MONEY….IT IS SO EXCITING BUT I WOULD APPRECIATE THE NEWS MEDIA NOT CALLING PRESIDENT ELECT BARACK OBAMA THE AFRICAN AMERICAN…..HE IS JUST PRESIDENT ELECT OBAMA….NOBODY CLD GEORGE BUSH PRESIDENT ELECT GEORGE BUSH WHITE.
GREAT TIME IN HISTORY ONCE AGAIN
November 7th, 2008 at 2:28 pm
Congratulations to President-elect, Barack Obama, on his land-slide win. As an American of mixed cultural heritage; German, American Indian, African-American and Irish, I learned a long time ago to ignore the haters and bigots and to embrace the people who had the wisdom to discern the ’spirit’ of an individual. I am SO PROUD of all of the beautiful people who voted for CHANGE; WHITE, BLACK, TAN, OLIVE, and all other skin hues, dependent upon the AMOUNT OF MELANIN they possess-my fellow members of the HUMAN RACE.
This election was indeed a historical event, however, it is not an indicator that we are a post-racial society; RACISM IS ALIVE. The FACT is, it needs to DIE, once and for all, and all of us join together to salvage our nation and our freedom. A house divided cannot stand; so it goes, also, for a nation. Hatred destroys the HATER, not the object of the hate; African-Americans, Jews, American Indians, all are STILL HERE, and we LOVE YOU.
November 7th, 2008 at 3:46 pm
Judith is one of those typical unhappy Republican hate mongers. If Sarah Palin won, boy the Republican party would have become more and more like the KKK.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:01 pm
It will definitely be an exciting time. I’m looking forward to hit.
Praying daily for Obama/Biden and the future of our country.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:37 pm

November 8th, 2008 at 4:22 am
So, you didn’t vote for Obama. Well, 65 million people did, you nitwit, and this article was for them. ‘Why would I try to get a ticket…….’ Are you so self-centered that you think this article was written to you personally? Oh, I get it, you’re one of those people who think that the TV news anchors are talking to them directly. How many restraining orders have you had placed on you?
November 8th, 2008 at 4:22 am
First we all have to learn to embrace change,We are created by God. This is a new start for everyone. lets not hate, but appricate the change. Hating only hurt yourself.
November 8th, 2008 at 5:25 am
This is one of the most historoical events in History anyone foolish enough to think otherwise are an idiot. Its not about race, its about American turning around, bringing the country back together as one. This was meant to be a message from God
November 8th, 2008 at 5:34 am
dispite our differences we are all AMericans. even the world is rejoicing with us. lets be proud of this historic moment.
November 8th, 2008 at 6:28 am

November 8th, 2008 at 7:15 am
i’m just excited and overjoyed to tell my children that the first time i voted, i voted for the first black president. i do a gree that racism is still prevalent in this country, especially in NC (where i live). i hope people will learn to grow up and accept the fact that we all have to live in this country together, and despite the wishes of the KKK and other racist organizations, we’re not going anywhere.
November 8th, 2008 at 9:01 am
I would like to bring a bus of 47 youths/children who are grades (2nd thru 12th grade). Would you let me know who I could get these to submit these tickets ASAP. Thanks I would really appreciate a response as soon as possible.

I have 3 young children and I am driving across country (from CA) to attend this historical event. I have 1 problem. I don’t have tickets to the innauguration. Thanks
November 8th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
Even though I cannot vote yet, i do believe that all of the crap I have been hearing and reading about president-elect barack obama is unneeded. I accept that everyine has differant veiws in politics, but i sometimes cannot believe the vulgar things I hear from some of you people.
November 8th, 2008 at 1:03 pm
Well Judith you may not be interested but other people are and it will definitely be great for the economy. My sister is attending but I will be watching from northern Nevada on 2 TVs. This is the most historic event in the 21st century. Nothing will top it.
November 8th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
Judith,
Remember that positive people go further in life than the negative. Lighten up, you may eventually change your perception of Obama, when you see the economy beginning to take a turn better.
November 8th, 2008 at 2:58 pm

I am Indonesian, and I really happy that American begin thinking more wide open not just for races but for the country as one.I think its God will. I would like 2 tickets to President elect Obama ball.
Please notify as soon as possible, so I can make travel arrangement.
November 8th, 2008 at 3:27 pm
I did not vote for Obama; my personal choice was Ron Paul. However, I am a good sport and open-minded enough to give the “winner” a chance. I will attend the parade with my friend, who did vote for Obama. Both black and white people have something to be proud of. I just wish people would acknowledge Obama for what he is, which is BI-racial, not black; I also wish he would correct people on that, the way Tiger Woods does. As a mother of a biracial child (when it wasn’t ok), now the grandmother of tri-racial children, I think it’s disgraceful when Obama’s mother, as well as her heritage, is completely ignored. And please don’t respond with “it’s the law” because we all know that law was made by racist white men. At any rate, I’m proud that I lived my life in a way to make this event possible and can now share it.
November 8th, 2008 at 5:07 pm
I’m am very proud to see history being made by this country coming together as one; of many races, creeds and colors. I would have never dreamed that I may have a gift so wonderful to be given to me if I could obtain two ticket to the inauguration to see Barack Obama being swon in as the first African American President of the U.S.A. I was born 1/16/49 and a birthday party was planned for me by my children, and myself. This would have been the first birthday celebration I would have ever had in my life. I would have been celebrating sixty years of my life, and now I have to celebrate it in 4/4 /09 because of the inauguration,I am not in the best of health and I am hoping that someone might be able to help me obtain two free ticket so I may be able to attend the inauguration.I have had the honor of standing in line for nine hour in Norfolk,Va and I was able to shake his hand. I also attended the rally in Virginia Beach. All of his rallys were breath taking, If it is anyway possible for someone to help me to Obtain two tickets that would be the greatest gift I could ask for. Please respond someone A.S.A.P. God bless you
November 8th, 2008 at 6:12 pm
I live in Canada and plan to attend (or just be there) Where can I go to be a part of this auspicious occasion even if I do not have tickers.-
November 8th, 2008 at 6:19 pm
how do i get tickets, I need 3
November 8th, 2008 at 6:28 pm
As a grandmother of 6, the experience would thrill not only myself, but 6 little faces who want to know this man who caused grandmom to cry for almost an hour. To be able to guarantee these children both male and female a chance to be truly whatever they want to be, and show them the proof in the inauguration of Mr. Obama as President of Our United States of America.
November 8th, 2008 at 7:58 pm
its good to have this type of information I know a lot of people who are spending THOUSANDS of dollars on fake tickets and they do not even know. thank goodness I read this article before purchasing.
November 8th, 2008 at 8:23 pm
To see Barack Obama finish Martin’s dream, I’d love to be there. Hoping to get some others and charter a bus. This is a dream come true, one that to me was never going to happen. We worked for his primary campaign in the ‘good ole boy’ state of Kentucky, where they like you playing ball but at the first problem, the code word is ‘undisciplined.’ Hopefully we can change how others see us as we embrace integrity and one another in the same pride we had for one another in the late 60’s-70’s. God bless our newly elected president and his family.
November 8th, 2008 at 10:45 pm
I seriously thought I was going to slip into a deep depression after Al Gore lost in 2000. And then, came all the trouble and a repeat of him(W.) winning(barely) I thought I was done for and so was this country. It was beyond painful. That is why Obama winning by a landslide of electorial and popular votes feels like the sweetest song on a summer day. If someone is negative and disapointed in the outcome I feel like saying..You must not be patriotic because you don’t like the president. The difference is this in my view: W. was not competant. Barak Obama is. He is an amazing man and an awesome motivator. All of you naysayers will realize this soon enough. He will win your hearts too if you open your mind. W. couldn’t quite pull that one off.
November 9th, 2008 at 12:41 am
“The way forward is together.” This was a quote from Donna Brazile.
Judith and JEN, I just shake my head… You both need to get a life or another job… you have too much time on your hands to respond to things that they are not even interested in.

This is a joyous occassion, let’s NOT allow one or two people to shape this entire conversation. We give the naysayers too much power over us. Remember Barack Obama’s message of ‘reaching inside to find our better selves and make our country better!’ Let’s keep this about our hopes and dreams for our country. We need to end the devisiveness that the bush regime has created. HOPE trumps fear!
November 9th, 2008 at 10:51 am
Judith Nees, at least Obama was fairly elected unlike Bush, who had to have the help of his brother and the Supreme Court to steal the presidency in 2000.
November 9th, 2008 at 12:34 pm
i contacted 3 different reps about this. cuz my girlfreind realy wants to go it being the first time we’ve voted.
November 9th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
Although I did not vote for Obama as I am not an American citizen, I will be travelling to the USA from the UK for the first time in my life even without a ticked. , even without the ticket, for this historic event. Even those that voted for
November 9th, 2008 at 4:27 pm
I am so blessed that my daughter (now 17 years old) had an opportunity to meet President elect Obama 2 years ago when she attended a summer program at the National Equity Center at Howard University, in Washington D.C. She attended the NAACP Convention and saw President Bush, Condoleeza Rice, Ted Kennedy, Hillary Clinton, etc. She has thrived so much from the experience and is quick to explain expecially to her peers what is means to be a Black American. Senator Obama spoke to the students (only 25 from across the country) about their educational journey and the importance of giving back in their community which she continues to do weekly by voluntering. We are so honored that she had this beautiful experience and would truly love to attend the swearing in of President elect Obama. I reflect on my grandmother (died at 81 years of age) who did not live to see this historic event but who always encouraged her 49 grandchildren to excercise our right to vote. I say lets all do our part to take our place in history working together. President elect Obama WE ARE PROUD OF YOU AND WHAT YOU STAND FOR…HONESTY, HOPE, AND CHANGE.
November 9th, 2008 at 5:05 pm
i have a bus trip with a group offriends and community leaders from my city Ottawa, Canada heading to the inauguration. is there anyway that you could assists me in gettings tickets.
with gratitude
November 9th, 2008 at 5:20 pm
Wow… guys, I think we’ve given the un-American voices too much power on this page! I agree with Judy in this regard—why do we in our most beloved country allow the least intelligent, most ignorant minds to shape conversation? Let’s heal America just as our President-elect has encouraged us, and let us purpose in our hearts to make knowledge available to all those who would leave the narrow confines of bigotry, hatred and ignorance. While the world rejoices with us, let us not have our joy spoiled by embittered nay-sayers. God Bless America and our President-elect!
November 9th, 2008 at 6:07 pm
Go OBAMA. Yesss
I am so happy for him and his family.
November 9th, 2008 at 6:35 pm
To all of the Judith’s out there:
Take your negativity and your hate and go crawl under a rock. President elect Obama is in and you just need to get on board or keep your negative responses to yourself. You think your behavior is patriotic? BS…Your behavior screams RACISM! How can you not look out into the sea of people from all walks of life and feel great! Only a cold fish could not be feel overjoyed and prideful! Get a grip and fall in line Judith!
November 9th, 2008 at 6:50 pm
I HOPE TO GET TICKETS TO THIS HISTORIC EVENT; HOWEVER, IF I DON’T THEN I WILL STILL BE THERE IN WASHINGTON (I LIVE IN MISSISSIPPI) AND YES IT MEANS THAT MUCH TO ME TO TAKE AN 18 HOUR DRIVE JUST TO BE THERE!!!!!
November 9th, 2008 at 7:19 pm
Barack Obama is truely a man maded in God image. I did vote for him, because this is truely God’s work.
I am praying to God that my husband and my sister-law, plus me can attend his inauguration. I can’t tell you how much it would mean to me. I am in the process of trying to find a way to get there. My sister-law has colon cancer and this was her first time voting, and it is her wish to see Barack Obama inauguration. I am determine to give her that wish. Please send tickets, or tell me how to get them.
November 9th, 2008 at 8:53 pm
My favorite response to Judith was that articles may not be about her personally and they might interest other people.
That said, I think she’s perfectly within her rights to express her disdain. Those of us who feel proud and happy about Obama’s win should ignore her negativity.
November 10th, 2008 at 6:20 am
YES YES YES I plan on going to the Inauguration. Yes as you can see there are still ignorant people in the world. Change is what we needed, prayed for and watched the first sign unfold on Election night. I am very proud of the voters that went out and stood up for what you wanted and not just let someone take the office. I live in Richmond, VA so the drive is only 2 hours. I am excited and will definitely have this time in history saved to share with my grandchildren. My last thougt is for those that dont want to get on the band wagon and support Obama, HE’S STILL YOUR PRESIDENT RATHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT. GOB BLESS AMERIC!!
November 10th, 2008 at 7:53 am
I know I am no one of importance but I need (4) tickets for my 12 year old son, my husband, my brother, who is a Naval Officer, and myself.
I want to go to the ball or the ceremony. I remember meeting a man who had survived an attempted lynching. As he spoke, the burn marks showed around his neck. I tried on slave shackles and been chased around my high school and called “Nigg–”. Therefore, seeing Barack sworn in would be beyond exciting and encouraging.
I am glad to see America changing and growing as one. I sing the Star Spangled Banner so differently now.
November 10th, 2008 at 9:28 am
At this point in time, race, age, or religion is NOT a factor. This is a turning point for AMERICA. We all have to understand one thing and one thing only. OUR COUNTRY NEEDS CHANGE in a positive direction. I personally don’t care if Obama ate crap for breakfast lunch, and dinner. The fact of the matter is is that “ARE WE WILLING TO TAKE A RISK OR TAKE A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION FOR THE FUTURE OF OUR CHILDREN?” This is for the future of our children. We have lived our troubled country’s timeline. Why not change it and work on it for the better until the day we shall pass? At least I want to die knowing that I gave it MY ALL to help make a better country for my children and YES I AM A OBAMA SUPPORTER but not affiliated to any party.
November 10th, 2008 at 9:51 am
At, this time it is cheaper to charter an aircraft to fly down to Obama’s inaugural day then buying from the airline. Additionally, there is no TSA bag checks, shoe removal, and etc.. We can arrange ground transportation as well. Below is a link to UFS-Aero’s website with all the charter information, or they can contact me direct 717-215-6276. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to speaking with you soon.

In the words of Louis Armstrong…I see trees of green, and red roses too; I see them bloom for me and you…and I think to myself…”WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD”…
It would be an honor and a privilege to be able to attend such a historic event as this one.
Congratulations to President Elect Barack Obama and His Beautiful Family!!
May God Bless them and keep them in HIS Care.
November 10th, 2008 at 10:08 am
i would love to get tickets to this MAIN EVENT because that is just what it is THE MAIN EVENT IN HISTORY. for my children to have more faith to believe that they can becaome anything they set there minds to be….OBAMA 08
November 10th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
I want to go to the inaugration Ceremony/Ball more than a Crackhead wants a hit!!! I just have to have my 12 year old son see history in the making. A black man uniting America & changing America’s image. What a beautiful thing!!!
November 10th, 2008 at 1:44 pm
Judi,
You should move to to a third world country and then you might come to terms and realize that your backward ways have no place in the good old USA. God Bless America and the President whoever they may be. You are too racist to be here.
November 10th, 2008 at 3:21 pm
GOING TO THE INAUGURATION!!
Whoo Hoo!!! Don’t have tickets yet, just want to be in the mix…I will be taking my (2)yr old who now will know he can succeed at anything
November 10th, 2008 at 3:57 pm
If you said you didnt vote for obama so why would you watch the inauguration or something similar, that is very funny. Think about it you clicked on this story and read it, then took the time to leave a comment. If your willing to do all that but won’t flick on a television channel, well your pretty pathetic
November 10th, 2008 at 4:56 pm
Well since everyone dumped on poor un-enlightened Judith I won’t say anything else about her. I truly wish I could get a ticket to this historical event. But I will be in the city for the festivities and I might get lucky and get a glimpse!
November 10th, 2008 at 5:21 pm
how do i get tickets for me and my family
November 10th, 2008 at 5:32 pm
Judith, don’t you realize that the Republicans have really screwed up this country! Let’s let a BROTHER have a chance to straighten up this mess! You must have blinders on! Or is it that you just can’t stand to see a black person in the White House? Well get over it sister…and if you’re black that’s even worse.
November 10th, 2008 at 6:30 pm
judith, I’m sure Russia has a spot for you, because the US does not need your kind or attitude right now. Don’t like it; then leave.
November 10th, 2008 at 7:39 pm
Not even a week after the president election the blond topblogger from Sweden, Linda Ekholm speaks out loud about Obama!
And I really believe this is truly written by heart. Scary!

I’ve voted in every election since I was 21 but at 59 yrs. old, this was the first election that I’ve ever volunteered to help put my candidate into office! Barack Obama not only has a very Presidential air about him, he put his plans on his website, spoke clearly about it when I saw him in person, and kept his campaign focused on the issues. He will be a wonderful leader because he has a well-thought-out plan, he clearly has the best interests of the majority of Americans in mind, and has the tremendous ability to stir millions of us to work towards the common good! Together we can! I am planning to go to the Inauguration and will go whether I have tickets or not! I am white but see that as an unimportant fact in this election. He was obviously the best person for the position! I am thrilled beyond words that so many of my fellow Americans were able to look beyond the color of his skin and voted as I did. History has been made. The next thing I am yearning for (as a heterosexual woman) is equal rights for gay & lesbian couples…the next group who should be granted equal status!
November 10th, 2008 at 8:40 pm
Oh good grief, leave poor dumb Judith alone already and please please please, as an old white guy who voted for Obama and could care less about his color, may I please disagree with him from time to time during the next 8 years without being called a racist?
November 11th, 2008 at 7:04 am
judith, if you didn’t vote for him nor will watch the ceremonies! why bother to write a post on the subject??? Confusing to say the least. Didn’t vote for Obama but shows interest by writing a post!!?
November 11th, 2008 at 8:25 am
Vickie,
First of all Obama is not a “Brother” he is biracial and clearly has carried himself in a difnified way throughout the election process, so to refer to him as a “Brother” is wrong, we should not be measured by the color of our skin! and you are right that the Replicans made a mess of our Nation, so now it is time for the Democrats to straighten it out! You might be right about Judith, but your comments sound Getto! and that’s not what Obama is about, he is strong, dignified, and has class! I admire him for all he had to overcome to get to the White House.
November 11th, 2008 at 8:48 am
I AM WAITING ON THE [ODAMA WHAT HAVE WE DONE] TO START WHICH WILL COME IN ABOUT SIX MONTHS
November 11th, 2008 at 10:14 am
All those that didn’t vote for Obama, it really doesn’t matter does it? Because he won without you. So in essence, you and your vote has no merit in this world today. You mean nothing.
November 11th, 2008 at 10:54 am
They’re trying to make it a felony to see inauguration tickets, so it may not be true that it’s not technically illegal…
November 11th, 2008 at 1:39 pm
Hello,
Lets work togeather and move this country forward. Obama’s inauguration will one of its kind. Please direct me where I can get two tickets for President Obama’s inauguration ceremony.
Thanks
November 11th, 2008 at 2:18 pm
To all of the negative folks, naysayers and haters—not trying to abridge your first amendment rights–but keep all of the negativity to yourself. This country is moving in a new direction and you don’t have to get on the train…but you can rest assured that it is taking off—-with or without you!
November 12th, 2008 at 3:22 pm
Can I please have 4 tickets to the Inauguration. Please let me know where to send my information to. Thanks Tina
November 12th, 2008 at 7:15 pm
I am also workng very hard to get a ticket to this event. I am surprised my congressman has not put a restraining order on me, due to the extreme calling I have done within the past couple of weeks. I can’t wait to get there, to see history happening right in front of my eyes. There is no need to taunt Judith, keep in mind the first amendment, everyone is entitled to their own thoughts and words, through this. I am sure that most of us felt similar when George Bush was elected, (boy was I pissed!) But to each its own. God made a way for Bush to come in and ruin the country, just so someone like Obama could come in and piece it all back together. I really like the quote from MLK’s speech that was posted earlier. Skin color is not a determinant in whether someone should be liked or not, it is all in the character. (Remember, never judge a book by its cover.) I also noticed another comment that said racism does still exist, and it does, but these are things that we should come together and pray about. Its been going on too long, and I believe that these next 4/8 years will definitely provide America with a well needed change. It would be my pleasure to ask Judith if she would be an American for just once in her life, and respect the leader of her country. (Ooops….sorry, hope that didn’t come off too offensive.) Also white supremacist groups stand back and get over it. Obama is white too, well at least part of it. If you would kill one of your own kind, that shows you have no heart at all. Also, lets be role models to our children. We are living in history. Sounds ironic, but true. My kids are only 1 and 2, and by the time they take US History for a class, Obama will be in their textbooks. I wouldn’t want them reading about how blacks and whites were against each other, just because a successful and admirable man took the center stage. Keep this in mind, and also let’s keep people like Judith in our prayers. United we stand, and divided we will fall, but with each of our hands touching and agreeing, we shall overcome!!!
November 13th, 2008 at 2:18 pm
It was the greatest enlightment for USA. It is indeed a honor for all people who have humble start in life. How would I get 6 tickents to bring my student to the inaugutation celebration. Two tickets to the ball?
November 13th, 2008 at 7:38 pm
I saw some Obama supporter talking about all the “negative” energy from mccain supporters that Obama got in. YOU CANNOT ELECT A LEADER THAT ONLY HAS CHARISMA. HE HAS NO GOOD BELIEFS,instead he wants to spread the wealth. Let me tell you the problem with spreading the wealth. You take money from the richer people, who make more than 250,000. Then, they fire some of their workers because their taxes go up 5-10%. Then, people lose jobs. This sounds like a great plan, doesn’t it. Obama’s plans suck. Also– for the democratic party’s concern for global warming- OBAMA DRIVES A GAS GUZZLING CHRYSLER 300C HEMI 5.4L, which gets 8-12 MPG! So much for worrying about emissions!
November 14th, 2008 at 10:11 am
Judith,
Read my lips: This article was not intended for YOU.
November 14th, 2008 at 11:45 am
We are from North Carolina. We would like to have two tickets to the Inauguration. We are over 60 years old and this is the first time we have been so impressed by a candidate.
November 14th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
Congatulations America for electing the president of your choice. God bless you all, and Judith.
November 15th, 2008 at 11:05 am
I have booked my flight to BWI and will be staying in my friend’s unoccupied apartment (air bed $9.99). Sen. John Kerry, it would be an honor for me to accept a ticket [from you] to this historical event.
November 16th, 2008 at 9:28 am
I am a housekeeper who has no medical coverage and raise both children by herself. My daughter became a pharmacy tech at Jacobi Hospital and my son just graduated from Yale university this past memorial day weekend. I would like three tickets for the innauguration.
November 16th, 2008 at 10:48 am
I am not an American permanent resident. Is it still possible for me to watch the ceremony?
November 18th, 2008 at 9:24 am

RE: Judith Nees comment…….
this is a time of great change and hope–let’s keep the pessimists AWAY!
November 18th, 2008 at 2:47 pm
I am a twenty two year retired navy Veteran and a proud American. I have obeyed the orders and proudly supported four Presidents. I didn’t vote for three of them, however; I did support them when the American people voted them into office. We all need to get behind the new President Elect. As Americans if we don’t like what has done we can change it by voting him out off office in four years. I look forward to supporting the new President. If I get tickets to this historical event I will take my son and walk to DC from KY if I have to.
November 19th, 2008 at 7:32 pm
To all the people that didnt vote for obama your either races or so damn rich you dnt know what to do with your money. but there r some blacks and whites that voted for obama n his everyones president. November 20th, 2008 at 7:42 am
I talked to our Florida Senator’s office and was informed that each senator only had 200 tickets for the bleacher seating for the inauguration. There were over 60,000 requests in the first few days for them. According to the very helpful secretary, there are no tickets necessary for the other street events such as the parade etc, unless you want to sit on a bleacher. The mall is still free. :) Check out the website http://www.change.gov for more information.
George
(I voted for Obama!)
November 20th, 2008 at 2:57 pm
Visit getinaugurationtickets.com and learn how to get these tickets for free. It worked for me.
Good luck.

Yes! I am so proud of you Mr.President-Elect Barack Obama. And Yes with great honor I would like to attend the auspicious day of your Inaguration on Jan 20. We are from a ‘poor’ single mom family in S.California and has barely enough money every day of our lives but we respect and think highly of you for this Change in our nation and would be thrilled and make our dreams come true if we can see you and your family in live persons then. Can we , I pray to God who will answer our prayers and put faith in God for all your best undertakings for our nation and us to be better citizens and not on poverty.
Thank you for reading my little note and hope to hear from you to send us some good news. Amen.

With this being such an historic election from so many standpoints, I would love to be able to attend the 2009 Presidential Inauguration. My younger sister Whitney is 23 years old. She’s a recent college graduate; and, we’re ready for this road trip…if we are blessed to obtain a pair of tickets.
As a 32-year old African American female, I am so excited to see this day. I am equally excited that our nation has voted for a positive change. I do pray to, and have faith in God that each of our newly elected officials will let Him lead them in all decisions. Once this nation and this world collectively begins to obey, we will all be much better off. I am thankful that not only my home state of Virginia, but our country is stepping in the right direction for becoming a more positive place.
May God continue to bless you, our state, and our nation in its entirety.
November 28th, 2008 at 3:51 am
I am so excited, my sister and I will be travelling from the UK especially for the inauguration. We don’t have tickets, and don’t think that we will be allocated any. But it will worth being near just to be really part of it. Can’t wait!!!
December 1st, 2008 at 3:56 pm
Hey Judith, you’re a loser. Enjoy watching a REAL President in action. He’s already done more good for this country in less than a month than the traitor bushie has done in eight years.
December 2nd, 2008 at 6:08 am
just want to prove the lady who has said that she cant go for a black man ceremony, Am from kenya and we r very proud for Obama. For he has proofed that black can also get what they really want for becoming the greatest man in the world. Conratulations OBamaaaaaa.
December 2nd, 2008 at 7:03 pm
January 20, 2009, will truly be a great moment in the history of this country.
To all of you that are asking for tickets, call your congressman’s office. If you still cannot get tickets, why not just go and view the parade. You do not need a ticket for that. Even if you get a ticket, it does not gaurantee you a seat. You will probably still end up standing. Good Luck!
December 4th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
My husband and I are so excited and would like to attend the Inaguration on Jan 20. This is a time of great change and hope. God bless president elect Barack Obama and his beautiful family. We are so blessed to see this dream come true.It would be an honor and a privilege to be able to attend such a historic event as this one.

to judith nees why poop on our party. stay at home by yourself
December 8th, 2008 at 8:23 am
Everyone who has such ill feelings about President elect Obama should not be a recipient of the benefits coming to citizens, like if a gracious stimulus check is issued to the citizens, make sure you (1) don’t collect one, let the money go back into the treasury, or (2) give yours to a true patriot.
December 8th, 2008 at 3:59 pm
I didn’t vote for Mr. Obama either but he’s my President and in the spirit of getting on board I did fill out a virtual form to get tickets and was just informed that I indeed get two!
I would LOVE to go see this history making event and I truly hope the President-elect Obama is the change that this country so desperatley needs. As I said in my form to get the tickets, “I didn’t vote for him but let me be the first to start the change that is needed to back my President up!”
December 15th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
I am a retired schoolteacher who has never attended a presidential inauguration. I would love to have 3 tickets for myself and 2 sons ( who reside in Washington D.C.) Until this year I have never campaigned as hard as I did for Barack Obama.
I hosted a “watch party” on nomination night. I volunteered and enjoyed the phonebanking , answering the phones, checking absentee forms and greeting guests as they came into the campaign headquarters office on Marshall St. in Richmond,Va. My sons and I made several donations to the DNC also. All of the volunteers worked so well together for Obama and Warner. I called the proper congressman’s office and was told that they were not taking any more requests for tickets. I feel that volunteers should be considered first since we worked so hard. I started volunteering before the telephone lines were put in.
History was made and I lived to see it. If possible I would love to attend the inauguration. I believe all of you together will do a fantastic job in your positions as president and senators. Thanks for all you do.
Thanks
December 22nd, 2008 at 5:30 am
I can’t believe this ridiculous show off Present Elect Mr. Obama man. Do you really think it is necessary to have a crazy show off inauguration every time something good happens to you? Newsflash Mr. Obama: no one cares. I think our country has better things to spend its money on LIKE FOOD AND WATER FOR THE POOR AND PREGNANT AMERICANS who are starving for the sake of this greedy inauguration. It is taking funds away from health care to have this event. So basically Obama wants me to go to this event and worship his celebrity status? Well read my lips Obama: I’M PROBABLY NOT GOING TO GO! If I didn’t have to stay home and have an abortion that day, I would go just to PROTEST and not enjoy myself at all!
December 22nd, 2008 at 3:48 pm
In the sixties, I ran for State Committee Woman in the Bronx. I lost by 240 votes. I ran on a ticket with the late Congressman Jim Scheuer, Bob Abrams, Harrison Goldin, etc. I was Secretary for the Reform Democratic Club in the Pelham area of the Bronx. I later moved to the Eastside of Manhattan, Second Avenue and 27th Street. When the rent increased beyond my means, I moved to Jersey City where I now reside. I live in a Senior Citizen residence. I would like to have three tickets to the Inauguration for myself, one daughter and a grand-daughter. My daughter’s husband was a film editor for CBS news for more than 25 years. My daughter is a Professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. She has also been teaching dance at the 92nd Street Y in New York for many years. A few years ago I was listed on the ballot in Jersey City as a candidate to attend the Democratic Convention in New Jersey. In 1985 I received plaques from the Jersey City Mayor and my Congressman, Frank Guarini. I also worked in the Harlem office for Martin Luther King as assistant to Jack Hunter O’Dell. I Think I will stop here. I feel a part of the movement that made it possible for the United States to fulfill the dream of United States of America being fo all of the people. Thank you for your kind consideration. Marie Lee McBroom

I fought hard for Obama in my state. Here in Mississippi it was hard. My car was key and dented just for having a Obama Hope sticker. I’m happy he prevailed to try and unite America. I dream of a future where my children will not have to witness hate and racism, they way I saw it as a child. If it’s possible can I have 4 tickets for my wife and 2 kids? If not 2 will be greatly appreciated. Also is there a site where I have to submit info. My state senators office was not helpful in obtaining tickets I sent numerous request to Thad Cochran and Roger Wicker not even a response..Thank you and godbless!
December 26th, 2008 at 3:33 pm
hey Judith, you have become a hit on this site (don’t take it as a compliment though, its not a good thing). may be YOU should run for president. i am sure at least YOU may think that YOU can do a better job than Obama :p
as for the rest of you…stop entertaining this woman. she wanted to stir up a bit of commotion and all of you played into her game. she won, figuratively speaking. but she is probably a mole who lives in whoville, eats mayonnaise sandwiches and has lost touch with her country, and her world. so we must not feel anger towards this woman, but sadness…
hey judith, i forgive you, for you do not understand anything in life…i’d offer you a hug or something to ease your pain but i doubt we are in the same state…so maybe in another life ehh ;)

I believe Barack Obama’s election is a miracle. I think it involves a healing for this nation (with regards to prejudice and racism). Hopefully we will allow the healing to occur. I am so moved by this event. I never thought this would ever happen. I thought Judgement Day would come first.
January 2nd, 2009 at 9:03 am
When Obama was elected it made me think and feel a new day like the rise of the sun. Like a new day for my son, and all other kids.
They will grow and create history base on the historical change of government.
The Ability or Inability of are skills to enhance personal development and growth throughout are life to affect Social Change. this is what the Presidential election made a lot of people think about on a Global Scale. What is change? And what will have to Change?
Robert Kennedy once paraphrased a George Bernard Shaw quote by saying ‘**There are those that look at things the way they are, and ask why? I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?*’ *

What time will the inauguration begin?
January 4th, 2009 at 8:35 pm
MY SON, CHRISTIAN DOMINGUEZ, AND MY SISTER, ELIZABETH PRIETO,OF ARLETA, CALIFORNIA HAVE BEEN INVITED TO THE 44TH PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATION OF PRESIDENT ELECT “BARRACK OBAMA”. CONGRATULATIONS ON BEING PART OF THIS HISTORIC CHANGE FOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
SINCERELY, PATTY DOMINGUEZ
January 5th, 2009 at 10:34 am
I hope that all you obama haters are covered, cause this black man is about to be your President. As the old saying goes, Once you go black, you never go back.
January 5th, 2009 at 12:54 pm
Hey JD….Um maybe you need to stop watching CNN which is run by liberal communists and start watching Fox News which is more fair and balanced. Your following comment is totally WRONG.
“Maybe you will not think it is such a farce when you lose your job, retirement savings, and healthcare along with the almost 1 million people who have because of failed government under the Bush Administration that McCain admitted he supported over 90% of the time even more than his Republican Constituents for the last 8 years.”
Come on JD…..
The reason the economy is tanking is not because of the Republicans and President Bush. It is because of the democrats. Republicans said for years that regulations needed to be put on lenders such as Freddie Mac & Fanny Mae. These lenders were lending money out right & left to people who could not afford it. Huge sums of money for home loans were being distributed to low income families and the democrats sat back and said there is not a problem with these lenders. They wanted housing for poor folks just like housing for well to do people…well guess what….the borrowers could not pay and it just caused a never ending whirlwind of debt! The lenders were also fudging the accounting books. Go check out YouTube and look up Freddie Mac & Fanny Mae and you will see footage of what I am talking about. Don’t blame Bush. He did not do this. Everything is voted on by those we have in Congress. The democrats in Congress overwhelmingly said there was not an issue and lenders should be regulated. NOT BUSH’S FAULT. Do your research.
January 5th, 2009 at 2:33 pm
I am so excited to get to attend this historical event! My aunt has been promised 2 tickets from someone she knows, and we are going together. As a first time voter who voted for Barack, I am so pumped! Our country will finally be lead by a true leader with real integrity and wisdom. Thank gooness that its not going to be Sarah Palin next to the president at the inauguration! Haha I think many Americans with any intelligence will be laughing at that VP pick for long time.
January 5th, 2009 at 6:40 pm
To all you haters of our next president Barack Obama who won by a landslide, get on board! America has spoken whether you like it or not! John McCain was even gracious enough give the respect to Obama that’s due! That’s a real man! Remember when Obama gets approved another 2 years of the economic stimulus package, which I am sure the ignorant individuals spitting hatred fall into the category to receive. Make sure you mail it right back because to accept it WOULD BE A FARCE!!!
January 6th, 2009 at 4:20 am
It is, my dear friends, joint effort with a true leader to get the good US of A back on its feet. President Elect Obama is the righteous leader in these troubling times.
Even Senator McCain recognized this. For those who feel that they “hate” President Elect Obama, take the example of Senator McCain who respectfully towards President Elect Obama offered to join forces to get out of this mess.
I would be honoured to be part of the historic event on Jan 20th, together with my wife and daughters of 15 and 16 eho are very much aware of the historic impact of President Elect Obama. Unfortunately we live in The Netherlands which makes it impossible to find tickets.
January 6th, 2009 at 9:24 am
It is a wonderful new begining for a new History making event. My family is planning on going to DC from Alabama. The closest we could get with reasonable accomodations was Petersburg VA. Rooms were $49 one night and $101 the next in anticipation of others stopping through. Thank God we called early.
January 7th, 2009 at 4:50 am
By the way, times are changing: there are no “liberal communists” anymore.
But what we have are:
Greedy Grabbers, Greedy Victims, Innocent Victims and Deniers.
What we need is: someone like President Elect Obama to get rid of this ridiculous situation.
January 9th, 2009 at 9:48 am
Although I do not agree with Judith’s comments to say that it is “Unamerican” is competely incorrect. America is a free country in which case she can say whatever she likes. It IS American, be proud you can speak your minds.

I received an envelope from the Presidential Inaugural Committee with an invitation to the inauguration and other public events. I’m still wondering if it is really real. And yes, I DID call my congressman’s office on November 5th at 9am and put my name on a list that they had not even begun until I called. I’m HAPPY and grateful that I received one of the 198 tickets Congressman Payne’s office received when they had 5000 requests (I was told).
January 10th, 2009 at 1:04 pm
How I see it, in 2009 reguardless if you voted or didn’t voted, supported or didn’t support PRESIDENT ELECT BARACK OBAMA, He is the next president with or without your blessing. It is very outrages that with it being 2009 some people would rather hand our country over on a silver platter, than to accept the fact that Change has come to save us. I am a college student, and it just makes me sick to think that I would have to live another 4 years in hell. Stop being selfish, ungrateful, and ignorant! Look past his skin color, listen not just hear, but listen to what he has to say, you closed-minded people never know, he might actually benefit you just as much as he has benefitted the African American Community. An after all that is said, IF YOU STILL DON’T THINK HE IS A GOOD IDEA…I HAVE ONE…NEXT TERM YOU RUN, AND TELL YOU HAVE U WOULD CHANGE THINGS!!
January 10th, 2009 at 6:56 pm
HI
How would I get to the inauguration site, from the Residence Inn on 2120 P street.
Thanks because I think transportation will be limited.
Thank you for your time

Judith Nees. Well, to quote the mayor of San Fran a few years ago, regarding the gay rights bill. I will use his words regarding your comment on the greatest presidential election in U.S history, “Like it or Not, baby, he’s here to stay. “you got a new president. Your candidate lost, get over it.
Furthermore, Barack Obama is NOT the first African American/Black president. He is the first Bi-racial president. He is the same as Halle Berry, Alicia Keys and Jennifer Beals to name a few. Too many people want to label him Black. He is half black and half white and that is a beautiful thing. He is going to be fair to all Americans. Every president in this country democrat or republican has been white. So, it is time for this change. Next, we hope to someday see a woman as president. nkd (Miami, Florida)

January 13th, 2009 at 7:54 pm
Nay K.: Actually, Obama will not be the first bi-racial president. We have had several other bi-racial presidents, some of whom were just as black as Obama through ancestry, but they all identified as White (such as Warren Harding and Andrew Jackson, among others). However, Obama will be the first president who identifies himself as Black.
January 14th, 2009 at 8:18 am
I think Obama is going to be the end of the US as we know it. I’ll be in charge praying for a miracle to save us from him
January 14th, 2009 at 12:47 pm
Well then Judith and anybody else who feel as you do and want to stay in the same old rut, we (PROUD U.S. CITIZENS) invite you to enjoy this moment in history that we will be enjoying. Sorry that you feel this way, maybe you should try and bring some happiness into your life.
January 14th, 2009 at 7:34 pm
i have ticket.how do i sell it?
January 15th, 2009 at 9:20 am
How much are you asking for the tickets?
January 15th, 2009 at 11:15 am
This is for Judith, yes I voted for Obama as well, however: I am a PROUD American that agrees with him and says we NEED change! I respect McCain for his attitude the night of elections. I also respect Obama as the next President and will GLADLY watch the inaugration on TV. I would LOVE a ticket to be able to watch in person. . .
January 15th, 2009 at 12:15 pm
Judith…for the same reason you are viewing this website.
January 16th, 2009 at 9:25 pm
Why would anyone who truly loves the USA want Obama to fail? I didn’t vote for him but can honestly say that he won me over with his election night speech at Grant Park.
Good luck to all those who are going to the inauguration. It’s going to be a madhouse and I fear that many will be disappointed. When I was invited to the Clinton event in 1997 all I could see was a brief glimpse of the presidential limo as it made his way up Pennsylvania Avenue.
Good bless our new president and our country.
January 17th, 2009 at 4:27 am
Obama(employee) will start his new job next Tuesday. Obama’s work’s for all American’s(employer). We elected him because he convinced a majority of us that he has the necessary skill’s, experience and staff that can “change” the direction of our failing company (country). When he accomplishes his main objective of bringing our divided company together this would increase the support needed to follow through on his promises of “change”. As an employer, we must support all of our employee’s if we expect top performance from them. Why is this employee any different? Be careful, discrimination, of any kind, in the work place is forbidden. All of us deserve to be treated equal. Just stop for a moment and think about how you would feel if people were writing negative comment’s about you based on their personal opinion’s with absolutely nothing to support it. Unless you can see the future? In that case, stop blogging, start packing ~ your moving to the White House to become the first perfect president that can see in the future, which will then give you the right to “know it all”.
That bring’s me to the reason I am going against my “no blog” rule. After reading all of the comment’s on this site it occured to me that the majority of you blogger’s must be pychics. Wow! that mean’s you know everything before it happens. If your not pychic and you can’t see the future ~ but you continue to write these negative comment’s, that tell’s us only one thing ~ WHO LET THE DOG’S OUT!!!
A few closing thought’s:
Making history? What will that really mean at the end of Obama’s term?
1. First minority president that did exactly everything he promised and didn’t have one negative thing said about him?
2. First minority president that didn’t keep all of his promises and dug a deeper whole for us to get out of?
3. First minority president that could not live up to the expectations of the American people and committed suicide?
There is no answer to that question, for now. I think we owe it to our new president to:
Treat him like all other president’s next Tuesday(oops, Oprah will be there~His first assignment? Appearance on Oprah or a trip to Irac?).
Don’t mention “change” again until there is actual “change” (Oops, we made “change” the reason he was elected~God help him if we don’t “change”)
Give Obama a place in history when he, other than his race, has earned it.(Oops, Obama is two president’s
1st. Of the USA
2nd. Of a minority organization

I’m looking for 2 tickets. I’m from Canada and can’t find any up here.
January 17th, 2009 at 2:46 pm
Although I am glad these tickets are fee, I can’t find any and will pay for 3, if I find them. I want my 16 year old son to witness this enough to pay. This is an incredible time!
January 18th, 2009 at 11:54 am
I need for people to get over it…NO one wants to hear your negative and ignorant comments….If you dont want to be a part of the inauguration dont be, but the people have spoken and it’s over! As an American Citizen you should show support. We have supported all the other presidents whether we liked them or not, Obama is no differnt just a different color, which is just it he’s a different color he’s more than just a Black Man, he is a Man of many cultural backgrounds. Although he may not be “the” qualified candidate due to his age, he has the credentials, like any other U.S. senator and the spirit of what a true American is, a person that is humble, kind, considerate and serving. I believe that no president is fully prepared to take on the responisbilty of running a country and handling world relations, it’s a gradual process and race is not a factor. So, I tell all of you its a New Day not only in the United States, but the world. So, you have 2 choices either become a soverign or move to another country, but no one wants to hear your bitter comments because for the next 4 years you will have to Deal with the changes. Time and proof will tell and all of you Anti-Obama/Biden Americans will be eating your words later regretting your choice to deny change….
January 18th, 2009 at 1:33 pm
I am from India and obviously did not vote for Obama. I think Obama has proved to be the most loved and respected leader of our times. Hope in change is certainly the need of the hour; not just for americans but for the entire world. I wish we too had a leader we could believe in. I have been granted an off to be able to watch this epic event :-)
There are many Judiths out there. It is for everyone to wait and see if the change that was promised can actually bring a healing touch to everyone including the Judiths during these times of disbelief and despair.
January 18th, 2009 at 4:55 pm
Currently watching it on direct tv. Extremely heartwarming! 7:55 PM
January 18th, 2009 at 5:51 pm
Judith, the biggest farce was the election of George W in the first place. Get over it. 8 yrs of do nothing, worse, doing nothing positive on all fronts… making the US a joke on the world stage. America for all, not just rich white.
Middle class white guy

the effect of an event continue for a long time, the event itself does not, so just leave judith alone?
January 19th, 2009 at 11:34 pm
To judith nees :
They are not talking about you.
You can wake up in 2016 and start cheering for the republicans (if the party still exists)

I am a Kenyan journalist, based in the MIddle East and am very proud of Barrack Obama (also of Kenyan origin) taking a challenging role as the first black President to represent the United States of America (USA).
I wish President Obama and his family long live, good health and happiness. Long live America and its people. Congrats President Obama and wish you all the best and God’s guidance in running the affairs of America and the world as a whole. God bless

January 20th, 2009 at 4:34 am
Mr President you have set an example that nobody can erase in our minds for as long as we live. My family and I salute you and wish that all your plans that you have for the people of the USA get fulfilled. The world needed this. I envy you Sir. You made history in our lifetime, the history that we shall enjoy while you and I are still alive. May God Almighty bless you, the First Lady Michelle and your two beautiful girls throughout your endeavours and may “God Bless America”.
January 20th, 2009 at 4:58 am
Enough with this Black man, first black man, the first black president. Who cares? It makes me sick. Barrack Obama was elected into office. Period. He is our next president. Why does it have to be about the first “black” anything? I don’t have a problem with black people. Black people have a problem with black people. I have worked with and for black people and I never went to work and thought for a second that they were black. I enjoyed everyday I worked with them. I knew them as Joe(co-worker) and my manager Thomas. These guys were amazing to work with. We did things outside of work together and we were more than just workers together. I went to work and saw a manager, not a black man. People need to cut this crap out. Just respect others whether they are black, white, hispanic, asian. Who cares? Give people respect. Then you won’t have all this crazy talk.
January 20th, 2009 at 5:10 am
wasting the tax payers money…
January 20th, 2009 at 6:12 am
I find it ironic that the group who has cornered the market on being “haters” is now out in full force calling everyone who doesn’t love Obama a “hater”, drinking “Hateraide” and should “leave the country” as there is no place for “people like you”
Lovely.
why is hate on the left ok?

January 20th, 2009 at 8:22 am
Eric,
you are seeing the blowback from 20 years of Rovian politics and Rush radio …
kick a dog long enough and it may actually bite back
but I agree.. it is time for civility and for rabid conservatives and paranoid bloggers to be forgiven their trespasses.
January 20th, 2009 at 11:39 am
I didn’t vote 4 him because of one thing HE IS AGAINST GUN RIGHTS. But I watched it. On a live feed
January 20th, 2009 at 11:40 am
I don’t care too much for people thatt are against guns & wants to get rid of them
January 20th, 2009 at 12:18 pm
I am not a hater, but I also realize the sham this man will create some more. He wastes 150 MILLION dollars on this celebration, he picks and allows fools for advisors even when it is plain to see who they are. This man wants to put us further into debt and you want me to respect him? And before you say it, I was never a Bush or republican supporter and never voted for that man. I only see this nation going down the tube some more. I also plan to make sure all sees this man for who he is, a fraud. I hope you Obama lovers will see this one day too, just like you had so much hate for Bush, you should see Obama for who he really is.
January 20th, 2009 at 12:21 pm
I am so sick and tired of the Democrats getting away with corruption and still do. Look at how Obama and his “friends” look teh other way with Gov. Blago..he is ruining this state along with his corrupt friends in this state senate….I have no respect for this new president.
January 20th, 2009 at 1:49 pm
THIS IS HISTORY… A 1/2 black, 1/2 white man with a muslim name serving as the President of the United States. HISTORY
January 20th, 2009 at 8:33 pm
Why does it matter if he is black? All that shoul dmatter is what he wants for policies, not whether he is black, white, native american, latino, asian or whatever.
January 21st, 2009 at 9:15 pm
Aretha Franklin’s legendary head dress from the Clinton inaugurals in 1992 resurfaces with the Obama inauguration. We just hope the next presidential candidate’s platform will not be ‘a return to a kinder, gentler America’. President Obama is a great speaker, one that we will remember for years to come.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:34 pm
I THINK WE CAN COME TOGETHER AND SAY THAT WE MADE A CHANGE
January 27th, 2009 at 5:34 am
I love Obama so much.I do not mind if he’ll bring Africa at the level we expect. But,I hope it’s the greatest change made in the whole America & the World,a blackman in the White House.
January 27th, 2009 at 2:41 pm
people are hatin on obama
