Oahu: OHANA hotel deals in Waikiki

OHANA Islander Waikiki exterior photoOutrigger Hotels & Resorts can be found on almost every main Hawaiian Island, but its sister OHANA properties, which are only on Oahu in Waikiki, aren’t as well-known. Yet some of the specials currently being offered make OHANA worth a look, especially for travelers on a budget who just want a clean, well-lit hotel room after a day at the beach.

Deal: Instead of trying to hide the fact that guests will be inconvenienced while construction is going on, the OHANA Islander Waikiki is heavily discounting its rooms with special “Renovation Rates,” a refreshingly honest approach on their part. Standard/city-view rooms cost $111/122 per night including taxes; that’s 55+% off the rack rates.

With the Waikiki Connection Package, all of the OHANA properties in Waikiki are offering valuable complimentary services for guests, including free Wi-Fi Internet access, digital paging for those arriving early before check-in time, 15 minutes each of free local and long-distance calls to the U.S. mainland or Canada, and free transportation for two on the Waikiki Trolley’s Pink Line (show your room key card and save $2/ride). This bonus package of goodies is available at no extra cost to all guests.

Any other budget hotels in Waikiki with rooms starting under $100 that you’d recommend?

When: The special renovation rate at the OHANA Islander Waikiki is valid through October 31, 2007. The Waikiki Connection Package at all OHANA hotels in Waikiki is valid through the end of 2007.

Why Go: If you’re looking for a serviceable place to stay within walking distance of the beach, OHANA gives you a half dozen hotels to choose from.

Why Not: To get the best rates at the OHANA Islander Waikiki, you’ve got to be able to put up with the hassle, noise and general chaotic atmosphere during the renovations.

Connect: The free Wi-Fi Internet access is only available in OHANA hotel lobbies. For wired broadband service (also free), you’ll have to stay at the OHANA East hotel.
