Oahu: Daily spa treats at Hawaii’s Aqua Hotels

Aqua Hotels & Resort logoWhile Waikiki Beach may not be high on the list of places to go for those who have vacationed in Hawaii before, Aqua Hotels & Resorts are giving even jaded travelers new reasons to return to Oahu. In addition to freshly renovated rooms, Aqua hotels offer good deals for travelers on a regular basis, with rates starting below $100/night at their stylish boutique properties.

Deal: Aqua’s “Spring into Spa” package is a bonus bargain. For each night of your stay, you’ll get a one-hour complimentary massage (your choice of Swedish, lomilomi, shiatsu or reflexology styles), which regularly costs $95. This package costs only $60/night more than the cheapest available online “Savvy Surfer” room rates (starting at $100.77/night including taxes), so you’re saving $35/night.

Have you stayed at an Aqua hotel in Waikiki before? Was it worth it? Reminisce in the Comments section below.

When: Aqua’s “Spring into Spa” package is valid (subject to availability) through December 20, 2007.

Caveat: Like at most Waikiki Beach hotels, parking at Aqua boutique hotels costs an extra $18/day.

Why Go: Aqua boutique hotels rise above mediocre Waikiki beach hotels, not only with their sense of style but also by providing complimentary Internet access and breakfast, as well as a microwave, refrigerator and coffeemaker in each room.

Why Not: There are Waikiki Beach hotels with more lavish destination spas than those found at Aqua Hotels & Resorts. Plus, do you really need a massage on every single day of your stay? (For some us, that answer is YES, but we know that’s not true for everyone.)

Critique: The Aqua Hotels & Resorts group comprises the sexy Aqua boutique hotels and the less-special Aqua Lite hotels. You’ll enjoy staying at the former more, although some of the latter properties are OK for budget travelers (e.g., the Aqua Ocean Tower Hotel gets some excellent reviews from former guests).

Connect: Every Aqua boutique hotel offers complimentary high-speed Internet access in all guest rooms, plus free Wi-Fi in the lobby (and sometimes poolside, too).
