Next stop for Virgin America airline: Boston from LAX

Virgin America

Virgin America, the spunky newish California airline with leather seats and cool media features, will start flying to Boston (BOS) from Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO) on Feb. 12.

The fares:
Not bad. Round trips start at $298 plus tax for trips booked by Dec. 21 for travel Feb. 12 through May 20. Some airlines are matching Virgin America’s prices. For instance, when I searched Virgin’s website and Kayak.com today for March 3-7 round trips for LAX-Boston, American, United and Virgin America were all charging $298 plus tax; US Airways was nearly $200 more.

The flights: Three round trips each day to Boston from Los Angeles and two from San Francisco. From LAX, Virgin America already flies to New York (JFK), San Francisco , Seattle (SEA) and Washington Dulles (IAD).

The 411: For Boston schedules and fare details, see Virgin America’s website.
