Next James Bond movie: Chile is not Bolivia

Daniel Craig

Daniel Craig has been filming the next James Bond movie, “Quantum of Solace,” in northern Chile. The movie’s location caused quite a stir from the mayor of Baquedano, Carlos Lopez, who threw a tizzy on the set. Lopez wasn’t upset because the new James Bond is blond instead of the traditional brunet, but because filmmakers were using Chile as their location to represent their neighbor Bolivia. Lopez was arrested for trespassing and public disorder after rushing the set with his Honda Accord.

La Plaza, a new-ish Los Angeles Times Blog about Latin America, speaks more about why the Chileans are so sensitive.
