New Orleans: Papa Noel lowers hotel rates

Papa Noel (a.k.a. Santa Claus) is heading to the Big Easy, where he has himself such a grand time that he’ll stick around for most of December. Holiday happenings in the always-festive city of New Orleans will include glittering lights, caroling, street parties, special menus and the nightly Celebration of the Oaks tour in City Park.

To lure us out-of-towners looking for a good excuse to join the celebrations, a number of hotels around town are offering special “Papa Noel” discounts.

Deal: Find discounted rates at the following: Renaissance Arts Hotel (from $89), New Orleans Marriott at the Convention Center (from $89), Renaissance Pere Marquette (from $99), New Orleans Marriott (from $99) and J.W. Marriott New Orleans (from $109). Prices are pre-tax and based on double occupancy. When booking, ask for promotion code “HDYA.”

Note: The aforementioned hotels are not the only ones with special rates going for the month. Have a look at the list of participating hotels and bed & breakfasts on the New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corp. website. For instance, Hotel St. Marie has some nights available for as low as $69 (pre-tax) in November and December, and Bourbon Orleans is offering rates starting at $94 for the entire month of December.
