Now there’s a shortcut to Northern California and Sonoma’s wine country. Horizon Air is offering direct flights to Santa Rosa’s Sonoma County airport (STS) from LAX. Forget the golf course, organize your next important business meeting at a vineyard.
Deals: Introductory rates are $146 round-trip including taxes with a 14-day advanced purchase. But the real savings is in time. Sonoma is an hour and a half drive from SFO or OAK. And lets not forget luggage: Horizon won’t make you wear the same clothes twice. They are allowing a case of wine as a third piece of luggage at no extra charge.
More…Details: Flights are 90 minutes one-way and arrive in Santa Rosa at 10:10 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. Horizon is serving wine and microbrews from Sonoma County on all flights through April.

We received an email recently from a reader stating that she could not find this new route on the Alaska/Horizon website.
So, I just called and checked the website and verified that several daily LAX-Santa Rosa flights are indeed still available.
Note that Horizon is a partner of Alaska Airlines — this might have been the source of the reader’s confusion.
Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you find that a deal mentioned on our site has expired. In the meantime, we’re working on finding an easy way to identify ‘expired’ deals posted in our archives.

The destination airport is actually Santa Rosa - which is Sonoma County. Good deal and it does save a lot of driving up the 101 which is generally crowded.
