First of all, what and where is Curaçao? Curaçao, pronounced kyur uh sow, is the largest island in the Netherlands Antilles group in the south Caribbean near Aruba and about 40 miles from Venezuela. Its history as a Dutch commercial center dates to the 1600s and it has a rich cross-cultural foundation from Arawak, Dutch, Spanish, West Indian, Latin, African island and other inhabitants. As a tourist destination it is popular with divers and when I checked the website, their weather had a high of 88F every day this week. Want to discover Curaçao for yourself? Good, because the Curaçao Tourist Board is doing its best to make the island more accessible to Americans: It’s giving away 70 trips for two plus $500,000 in an on-island treasure hunt.
Details: Go to its website to win access to the hunt and discover more about Curaçao on your way. You can enter to win one of the 70 trips every day through May 23, 2009. One winner will be chosen daily at random and notified May 27, 2009. Each winner will get round-trip, coach-class air transportation from the major gateway airport nearest a winner’s residence to Curaçao and five days and four nights’ standard hotel accommodations (one room, double occupancy). Read the official rules for more information and all the ways you can enter to win.
