Mount Vernon - “National Treasure” basement tour

Mount Vernon basement imageDid you see the movie “National Treasure“? You know that scene where Nicolas Cage kidnaps the president in the underground basement at Mount Vernon? Well you can take a tour of George Washington’s basement yourself. Mount Vernon is offering tours of the “National Treasure: Book of Secrets” basement on weekends through mid-February. And just think, you won’t have to scuba dive or sneak your way in.

Deal: There is no extra cost to take the “Book of Secrets” tour. It is included in the Mount Vernon admission price, $13 adults, $6 kids 6-11. Although the basement tour isn’t offered on Feb. 18, admission that day is free to all visitors as part of celebrating George Washington’s 276th birthday.

When: Weekends through Feb. 10, 2008, 9 a.m.–4 p.m.

Contact: Mount Vernon, (703) 780-2000
