Heading down to one of Mexico’s sun-blazing zones? Sorry to play Mom (I am one, but not yours), but I don’t want you to head south before making sure you’re equipped to deal with the heat. Have a look at the following wide range of tips by bloggers and travelers around the Web. These will serve, I hope, as summer sun-safety reminders.
— When in doubt, reapply: Slather on sunscreen and then do it again and again, particularly if you dip into the pool. [NWA World Vacations]
Do you have any (cooling) hot tips to share?
— Keep drinking: Hydration, hydration, hydration, and by that I mean drink heaps of water. However, blogger Libby does permit you icy piña coladas too. [NWA World Vacations]
— Be a vampire: Stick to shade and air-cooled interiors during the hottest part of the day. Then venture out in the mornings, evenings and nights. [Global Mosaics]
— Pack a hat: Wide-brimmed is best, and you don’t have to sacrifice fashion in this department. [Los Angeles Times]
— Wear shades: Protect your corneas (and your retinas and lens, for that matter), and you may as well do this one in style also. [Stylehive]

This one’s for kids in cars (because the air conditioning doesn’t always reach the back seat, at at temps above 90 is pretty futile anyway):
Bring itty-bitty spray bottles so they can spritz themselves, and inevitably each other, with water. Find them in your drugstore in the travel-sized toiletries aisle.
