Mexico: Atlantic hurricane season means deals

We’re starting to see great south-of-the-border deals to Mexico, Cancun, Los Cabos, Cozumel, Mazatlan and more. End of summer and fall is considered the low season and travel deals will be enticing. But plan carefully before you jump at booking tickets. This time of the year is also hurricane season, with the peak months between August and October. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicts an 85% chance of an “above-normal 2007 Atlantic hurricane season.” Do your hurricane homework before you book your trip.

Deals: BookIt has a Mexico sale going on this week. To play it safe hurricane-wise, stick to towns on the Pacific Coast. Some packages include free kids and other resort coupons, but look closely at each property promotion as they will differ. Rates are per person based on double occupancy and before tax. I found 5-night all inclusive rates at a variety of resorts for under $700/person including hotel, flight, food and taxes.

Caveat: Their base fares are based on travel out of Las Vegas. Many of the promotions list the add-on price for flying out of Los Angeles, so look for that when you’re eyeballing price tags. You will be able to see the full price, including taxes, before entering your contact details.

When: Book by Aug. 21 for travel between Aug. 21 and Nov. 15, 2007.

Contact: Book It, (888) 782-9722
