Good morning travelers! Do you have Father’s Day plans? Father’s Day is June 15 this year so it’s already time to do some last-minute planning with only two weeks to go. We’ll scour the Web and wires this week to find you some worthy deals.
Travel Adventure| Joel Paschal and Dr. Marcus Erikson are sailing from Long Beach to Hawaii on a raft made from 15,000 plastic bottles. Crazy? Not really, they’re marine scientists trying to raise awareness about debris in the ocean. Read about it at Emerald City and check out their blog.
Packing Tips | Susan Foster, author of “Smart Packing for Today’s Traveler,” offers some tips on how to get away with just one carry-on bag. The advice is not so appealing to fashionistas, but my guess is they’ll welcome it with an excuse to buy more clothes and shoes on arrival. You can always ship them home if need be.
Hotel News | Metromix (co-owned by Tribune Co., which publishes the Los Angeles Times) had a pool party at the W Hotel. One look at these party pics and you’ll laugh the next time someone suggests a trip to Vegas. Why not stay in L.A.?
