Mayan truffles found near San Diego?

OK, these aren’t ancient relics on display at the San Diego Natural History Museum but the handiwork of Joanne Hansen at Bon Bon Bakery & Chocolates.

L.A. Times staff writer Mary MacVean writes about the award-winning Mayan-themed chocolates — and what’s inside the truffle shell — and the bakery that for the last two years has been part of the Bernardo Winery in Rancho Bernardo, 25 miles north of San Diego.
