Maui, Hawaii: small Lahaina B&B’s substantial deal

Lahaina sunset
Just a few blocks away from Kahana Beach, and within short driving distance to a number of other desirable destinations such as Kapalua Bay, the small, four-room Blue Horizons seems a pleasantly placed base camp just outside Lahaina for exploring Maui, Hawaii. And right now, for the “slow economy,” according to its website, the B&B is offering a few attractive deals.

Deal: Pay for three to five nights and stay one night free; if you stay six or more nights, you’ll receive 1½ nights free. But if you can only commit to two nights, you’ll still receive 20% off your rate for two-night stays. The regular room rates here range from $109 to $149 per night (pre-tax), including continental breakfast served every morning but Sunday. Call for the discounted rates, as booking through the online reservations system will bring up the rack rates only.

When: This special is valid for stays now through June 29, 2008 (note that the website’s July end date is incorrect, according the B&B’s owner).

Caveat: If you’re staying just two nights (which is the minimum stay allowed), a 100% deposit is required upon reservation. For three or more nights, a 50% deposit is required when you reserve, with the remainder due upon your arrival. This is not for the fickle visitor: Be sure to read the strict cancellation policy at the bottom of the booking page.

Why Go: You prefer reasonably priced accommodations that are cozy as opposed to large-scale resort-y. You like B&B personality without sacrificing certain basic comforts (every room here has its own bathroom and shower, kitchenette and DVD player, and there’s a lap pool, self-service laundry and grill for guest use on the grounds).

Why Not: You really don’t prefer cozy B&Bs.

Connect/disconnect: All rooms can pick up free wireless Internet.
