If you want to grab a deal, don’t wait for the first snowstorm to start thinking about skiing and snow- boarding this winter. The Westin Monache Resort, Mammoth, is offering up to 25% off its three-, four- and five-night ski packages. Just book by Nov. 5 using the promo code “PKGSKE” to get rooms starting at $261 per night for a ski package that includes accommodations and lift tickets for two people per day, pretax.
The lowest rates ($220 per night, with lift tickets for one person) can be found for five-night stays during the early season, Nov. 12-24, for arrivals seven days a week, and during the late season, April 18 to May 31. Prices are higher during the rest of the season ($377 per night, also with lift tickets for one person), Nov. 29 to April 17. Below I test the package for two people over a five-day stay.
Tested: This is definitely a deal because although lift ticket prices have not been announced, they cost $83 per adult last year. So right off the bat, you’d be getting $166 in lift tickets per day if prices stay the same.
Although the resort has the package bookable online, I found that the best way to get the most accurate price was to call and check availability over the phone. I called and checked room rates for two adults Nov. 19-24 (early season) and found the package was still available for a deluxe king suite at the price of $261 per day, or $1,303, before the 13.75% tax and $25-per-day resort fee. The one-bedroom suite (pictured) was priced at $291 per day for those same dates, before taxes and fees.
Caveat: The default pricing on the website is for one person per room, so be sure to chose “2″ in the drop-down menu under “adults per room” if there will be two of you.
Tip: Remember that 70-minute nonstop flights on Horizon Air from Los Angeles (LAX) to Mammoth Lakes (MMH) will begin Dec. 17.
