Mammoth: romantic full moon tours

If you want to spend time in the snow but the thought of being on a mountain overrun by snow boarders isn’t your idea of a good time, consider taking a guided snowshoe walk under a full moon. Mammoth Nordic leads snowshoe and cross country ski tours around Lake Mary from the Tamarack Cross Country Ski Center. Both tours include dessert and a hot drink back at the lodge.

Deal: The full moon snow shoe walks are only $40 and include equipment. Guests meet at 6:30 p.m. to get gear and start their adventure at 7p.m. If there is bad weather, a decision about whether or not to go will be made by 4 p.m.. Call to make your reservations as the tour is limited to 15 person. When I checked in, the Jan. 20 snowshoe tour was already booked up. Tours last 1-1.5 hours and include a hot beverage and dessert at the Tamarack Lodge afterwards.

When Snowshoe walks will take place on Jan. 20 and 22 and Feb. 19 and 21, 2008, Cross country ski tours are available on Jan. 21 and Feb. 20, 2008.
