Wow! Turns out that those weekend storms that brought rain to Southern California did big things for snowboarders and skiers, dumping up to a foot and a half of snow on Mammoth Mountain. So the Eastern Sierra ski resort opened at 9 a.m. today (Nov. 3), 10 days earlier than scheduled.
OK, so far only one chairlift, Broadway Express, and one run, Broadway, are open. But Dan Hansen, resort spokesman, said he expects a couple more lifts to start running by the end of the week. The resort is reporting a base of six to 12 inches on the slopes. And early-season lift tickets are only $52 for adults, $39 for teens and $26 for children and seniors.
For a live look at the white stuff, check out Mammoth’s webcams. The website is also posting lift and lodging packages starting at $99 per person, per night.
For other info and to book packages, see the website or call 1-800-MAMMOTH. The mountain is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
