Looking for something fun to do locally now that school’s out? Spots are still available for the Santa Monica Mountains Family Adventure, June 22-26, 2008. Organized by volunteers of Southern California Coastwalk, this “eco-adventure” will be based at the Malibu Nature Preserve.
During the five-day, four-night trip, planned activities include hiking, tide-pool exploration, a search for buried treasure with GPS units, a visit to a reconstructed Chumash village, beach soccer and star-gazing. It’s structured for families with kids 6 years of age and older.
Bring your own tent and camping supplies, though there is also space for RVs (sans hook-ups). Restrooms and hot showers are available.
Price: The trip costs $350 per adult, and the price for each child 15 or under is $240, though those registering from this point on will receive a $50 rebate for each child attending. The price includes camping and entrance fees, dinners every night, guided activities and taxes.
Future events: If this is too-short notice but you like the idea, consider another Coastwalk trip – the nonprofit group will be hosting 11 or more hikes along the California coast this summer.
