Luxe travel: La Costa Spa & Golf deals

Surprise your honey with a treat before New Year’s. La Costa Resort and Spa has a fall package with a great price on a suite. But you might want to compromise a little size on your room for a few rounds of golf or a couple of spa treatments. If you’ve never been to Carlsbad, it’s a small beach town 30 minutes north of San Diego and about an hour and a half south of Los Angeles. It’s developing a reputation as the it place for dining in North County.

Deal: Get the La Costa Suite (pictured) with a view of the golf course or garden for $399/night or $461 after taxes and a $21/day room charge that covers high-speed Internet access, entrance into the new athletic club, coffee and a newspaper. The normal price of this suite can range all the way up to $600/night depending on availability and season.

If you can settle for a guest room instead of a suite, the golf package includes two rounds of golf and starts at $349/night. The Spa package starts at $399/night and includes two 50-minute spa treatments. On either package you can upgrade to the suite for an additional $120.

When: The spa and golf packages are Sunday–Thursday until Dec. 23 and the “Fall Suite” package ends Dec. 24, 2007.
