In Laguna Beach, life imitates art at Pageant of the Masters hotel package

The best general admission seats are already sold out at Laguna Beach’s annual Pageant of the Masters, but you can sneak in the back door and get fourth-row-center seats with a special package available from the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel.

You can watch art come to life — literally, through the “living pictures” presented at this under-the-stars outdoor show — with the resort’s “Pageant of the Masters” package, which includes two fourth-row, center section tickets.

Rates start at $650 per night (two-night minimum) for a garden room at the Dana Point hotel; ocean-front rooms are $850 per night, with a two-night minimum.

The package is available during the run of the Orange County pageant, from July 9 through Aug. 30. Guests must arrive Sundays through Thursdays; show tickets are not available for Saturday night performances.

The package includes the resort fee, valet parking and a show program. For information and reservations, call (800) 241-3333 and ask for the “Pageant of the Masters” package or see www.ritzcarlton.com and go to the Laguna Niguel page.

Laguna’s Pageant of the Masters and Festival of the Arts, which celebrated its 75th anniversary last year, is one of California’s premier fine art exhibitions. It is among several events taking place in Laguna during the summer. The details:

Festival of Arts
Shop for one-of-a-kind artworks by more than 150 artists in an open-air gallery setting. Enjoy free art workshops, artists’ demonstrations, art tours, special events, food and much more.

And, every night during the summer season at 8:30 p.m., the Festival of Arts presents the pageant, featuring re-creations of classical and contemporary artworks with live models accompanied by a full orchestra and live narration.

Sawdust Art Festival
Two hundred Laguna Beach artists create an artists village in Laguna Canyon each summer. Shop for original art glass, ceramics, fine jewelry, paintings and more. Artist demonstrations include glass-blowing, printmaking and ceramics.

Art-A-Fair

The Art-A-Fair Festival is celebrating its 42nd season this year. Located in Laguna Canyon between the Sawdust Art Festival and Festival of Arts, the Art-A-Fair features more than 125 artists, plus live entertainment.
