LAX - SFO: Virgin America 1st flights on eBay

Virgin America logo Who else is excited about the new Virgin America flights? I already have a seat to try out their first-class massage chairs on August 14, but it sounds like the first flight on August 8 is the one to be on. Virgin America is celebrating their new service with parties surrounding their inaugural LAX to SFO and JFK to SFO flights. The virgin flights and party packages are being auctioned off on eBay as a fund raiser for KIPP: Knowledge is Power Program.

Deal or no deal? Who knows how high the bidding will go, but in addition to the celebrity and VIP-packed inaugural flight, you’ll also get one night’s stay at The Clift Hotel and VIP tickets to the launch party at Ruby Skye. These packages are being auctioned on eBay and the price is already at $1,975 with more than two days to go until the end of the auction. Anybody can go on eBay and watch the LAX to SFO auction and the JFK to SFO auction.

Why Go: Bragging rights. Plus, the auction is a fundraiser for KIPP, the Knowledge Is Power Program. And yes, Virgin Group Founder Sir Richard Branson will be at the party.

Why Not: The procedure to bid on the tickets requires a $250 refundable deposit to become a secure bidder. You will get your money back, even if you don’t win, but you have to make those funds available first. Also, the bidding transactions will take place via PayPal.
