The price of a bus ticket to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) aboard a FlyAway bus will increase on New Year’s Day.
The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners recently approved a new fare structure for bus service. One-way fares from Union Station and Van Nuys will increase from $4 to $6 on Jan. 1, 2009, while the one-way fare on the Westwood route will increase to $5. A new discount fare of $4 one way will apply for persons who are over 65 years old, disabled or on Medicare (with government-issued proof of eligibility). Children under 2 years old ride free.
In July 2008, the LAX FlyAway service joined the Metro EZ transit pass program, allowing passengers to use two dozen public transit carriers, including the airport bus system.
More info: Bus schedules, maps, parking and EZ pass information for all LAX FlyAway locations are available on the Los Angeles World Airports website.

Once again the babbling bunch of baboons that run LAX have made an extremly poor decision concerning the Flyaway bus service. Passengers CANNOT purchase bus tickets with CASH. The ticket booths only accept Credit or Debit cards. This policy, I am being told, was set into place because of shortages with the collected cash.
Why didn’t LAX Flyway install ticketing machines, like those used by Metrolink and Metro Rail to handle the ticketing and fare collection, and keep the service passenger fiendly?
