Travelzoo had a seemingly amazing special on tickets from LAX to London via New Zealand Air. They advertised that we could get tickets for this fall or Spring for $592. I have reason to go to London this fall so I thought I’d try my luck, here’s what happened.
Deal or No Deal? Yes, I found round-trip tickets via the Travelzoo link for only $501 round-trip to London at the end of October. But, after taxes and fees the price jumped to $817—that’s more than $300 extra! Sure, that’s cheaper than what flights are going for right now (about $1,000 and up), but still it’s hard to stomach that much in taxes.
September is when I actually have a reason to go to London and I found a flight on American Airlines via Orbitz for less than $50 more. So, please don’t be afraid to think outside the sale and test dates that would be ideal for you.
What’s the best price you’ve found this year for flights across the pond?
When: Valid for flights on October 26-December 19, and December 25-March 25, 2008.
Contact: Travelzoo via Orbitz
