The end of summer doesn’t tend to be the busiest time for tourism at Grand Canyon National Park, according to park concessionaire Xanterra South Rim. So those who make a point to visit can be rewarded with fewer crowds and good savings.
Deals: The “End of Summer” deal being offered by Xanterra South Rim is available at Maswik Lodge and Yavapai Lodge. The former is located a quarter-mile from the rim, and the latter is about a half-mile from the rim, near the visitors center. Rates below are pretax and based on double occupancy.
At Maswik, for $165 per night, you’ll receive a stay in a Maswik North room, a cafeteria breakfast for two, a guided in-park rim tour by motorcoach, and a gift shop discount of 10% off of purchases of $50 or more and 20% off of $150 or more. At Yavapai Lodge, the rate is a little lower, at $150 per night for the Yavapai East room, and you get the same package features. Use promotion code “Summer” when booking online.
Rack rates for Maswik North rooms are generally $170 per night, $153 for the Yavapai East rooms. The monetary value of the tours is at least $19 per person. Throw in breakfast too, and all things considered, this is quite a good deal.
When: Available for stays Aug. 15 through Sept. 10, 2009. Blackout dates are Sept. 5 and 6.
Note: The deal launches on the last of three free-entry weekends at national parks, but unfortunately no rooms under this package are still available for the night of Aug. 15. At time of research, the deal was available for many other dates at both lodges, including the next weekend, Aug. 21-23.
