If you’ve been to the Strip recently, you know all about the feet-dragging transformation of the Aladdin casino hotel into the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino (and simultaneously, the Desert Passage shopping mall into the Miracle Mile Shops). What you may not know is that the new Planet Hollywood Resort is offering excellent package deals to tempt visitors, gamblers and non-gamblers alike, to give it another chance.
Deals: The cheapest room rate I could find during July on the Planet Hollywood Resort website was $118.81/night, including tax. But their special offers easily beat that. The gas credit package includes a $40 credit applied directly to your bill upon check-out, plus $10 in free slot play after you deposit $20, and costs from just $75.21/night (two-night minimum stay required). The bed & breakfast special includes two breakfasts at the yummy Spice Market Buffet, the same bonus slot play, 40% off spa admission for two, and 20% off green fees at the Badlands and Revere Golf Courses, all costing from $118.81/night. To go all in, book the 777 (Seven Heavenly Sins) Package, which costs from $315.01/night (two-night minimum stay) and includes a $25 gift certificate for the Miracle Mile Shops, two free tickets to the show “Stomp Out Loud,” two free martinis at the Heart Bar, two free spa passes, two free Spice Market Buffet meals, and the same bonus slot play. Whew!

More…details: When I tried booking the same rooms at Planet Hollywood on the same dates using online travel discounters, I found even more deals. Expedia was offering rooms with the same $25 shopping certificate, 2-for-1 spa admission, $20 gaming credit, and 20% off at the coffee shop and golf courses for $135.19/night, including taxes and fees. TravelWorm was offering rooms with 2-for-1 spa admission, $2 off Absolut martinis, a free pastry at Starbucks, and 20% off at the coffee shop and golf courses for $122.08/night, including taxes and fees.
Caveat: The 777 (Seven Heavenly Sins) Package is nonrefundable and non-changeable once booked through the hotel. Full pre-payment for the package is due upon booking.
When: These special offers have no expiration date, though you’d best book sooner rather than later for the best deals.
Why Go: Hands down, this casino hotel has a great Center Strip location. The bathrooms are remarkably large, with deep soaking tubs in most. Plus, the hotel’s former Elemis Spa is now run by Mandara, the same excellent Eurasian chain that runs the spa at Paris–Las Vegas.
Why Not: During the dog days of summer, room rates drop everywhere on the Strip in Las Vegas. You could get a deluxe resort room at Wynn Las Vegas, arguably the Strip’s best megaresort, in July from $227.81/night, including taxes.
Critique: Even though the ex-Aladdin casino hotel has been recently renovated, some visitors say the rooms are still showing their age. Don’t expect luxury digs.
Connect: High-speed wired/wireless Internet access costs $11.99/day for guests.
