The jury in the O.J. Simpson kidnapping and robbery case got a surprise field trip to the Palace Station Hotel & Casino today in Las Vegas, Nevada. Simpson did not go to the hotel, but the jurors, alternates, lawyers and court officers made the trip to see the hotel room where the alleged robbery took place. (See more LAT coverage on the O.J. Simpson trial taking place in Las Vegas.)

The Palace Station Hotel & Casino is not what I would call a big tourist draw. It is off the Strip and barely gets noticed except by the locals. It might catch out-of-towners’ attention when Strip hotels are either sold out or so highly priced a traveler gets desperate, but guess how much a room at the Palace Station cost last night? Only $29, pre-tax. Maybe that’s why the locals like it.
When I checked out its website today, I was surprised to find that the tower rooms had recently been remodeled (pictured above). It sure looks acceptable to me, how about you? I’ve always ignored the Palace Station in the past, but with rooms regularly under $50, it is definitely back on my radar. Tip: Just make sure you ask for a tower room, and not a Garden Courtyard room. While pictures can be pretty, you still can’t smell them.
Loved and hated Las Vegas hotels | A look at our message boards about Vegas hotel rooms shows that the Palace Station Hotel gets noted on both sides of the loved and hated lists. Some enjoy it; others would never go back. Note: There are 21 reviews for the Palace Station on Yelp.
Have you stayed at any of the new tower rooms since they’ve been remodeled? Did they smell smoky?
