The Monte Carlo Resort & Casino, which has been shut down since fire broke out on its roof last month, plans to reopen on Feb. 15, 2008, according to a release from the hotel.

MGM Mirage, which owns the Monte Carlo, released a statement saying that at least 1,200 guest rooms will open in time for Presidents’ Day weekend — along with the casino, meeting and convention facilities, the wedding chapel and eating areas. The 500 rooms on the upper floors will remain closed during a “more extensive redesign.”
No one was injured in the Jan. 25 blaze that forced the evacuation of about 5,000 guests and 1,000 employees. The fire was caused by workers using a cutting torch, according to published reports.
